We could ask you the same question about horror movies LOL."Why are you people so obessed with family-related animated stuff?"

J/K
Anyway, family-related animated movies are....kind of the reason we're all here in the first place.

Just because it's not rated R and dripping with gore and nastiness doesn't make it "family related." I think the best movies are the ones that are intelligent and enjoyable, but with nothing to shield the kids from if they decide to stumble in at any particular moment.
Once you start dumbing stuff down for kids, it gets... well, dumb. But it doesn't have to exclude kids to be good for adults. In fact, I think a lot of movies go downhill when they do.
My $0.02.

Plus, no offense meant, but horror and gore don't necessarily make something "adult"--quite the contrary. It's the story that matters. Horror movies can be somewhat entertaining (if they're done well) but I'd hesitate to call any of them "adult." Senseless violence is anything but.
There are a few horror movies, like Frankenstein or Pycho, that have psychological, cinematic and social relevance, and are sometimes even studied in college classrooms.
But regardless of whatever "entertainment value" can be found in Freddy or Jason, could they ever be the subject of a college seminar? Not too likely.

(That's also why I feel that just because Anime shows stuff like exploding heads/disembowlements/blood/naked women//sex, it doesn't make it any more "mature" than say, the Lion King.

Yeah, but the Internet has guidelines, because there's children who surf the web. That's why parents put "blocks" on websites that have
inaproppriate material. Free speech is all well and good but if it puts people in harm's way, actions are taken.
You wouldn't yell "fire!" in a movie theater just to see people crush each other, or allow a 10-year-old to download pornography.
People have a right to a peaceful environment, a place where they feel safe and comfortable, and the right to know that their children are safe.
And of course they ALSO have the right to free speech, which is why there are plenty of other websites and forums where it's O.K. to discuss certain things.
It's like that old saying:
"The right to swing your fist ends where the other person's nose begins."

Okay, Code. Apart from specifically igniting a situation here, you have continued to keep quoting from the previous message.
For all the right and wrong reasons, we are obviously not the place for you when it comes to free speech on the internet.
We're a family site with our own strict guidelines and rules.
You've had your last warning. One more bad move and you will be kicked out.

Oh? You don't appear to own this site. You can say as much as the owners of the site will let you.Code Horror wrote:I know but people have the right to say what they want, don't like it well don't say we're not allowed to speak it in any place especially the internet.Macaluso wrote:Last I checked, the internet wasn't U.S. only.
It's just like you can't say whatever you want in school. Even though the school may be in America.
Anyway, could we like... get this back on topic now?
