Hmmm…pretty big drops all around this week, it seems. But why can’t I still see anything to actually watch!?

Nope, it's a short film sequel to the original, preceding "Naughty vs. Nice". It's cute, but way too short. Highlight is Betty White!

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+
It seems kind of silly. The point of 2.39:1 was to be able to have more cinematic vistas and wider action. Now we're basically getting 1.85 (I know, close enough though!) and being told... we'll be able to have more cinematic vistas and wider (ok, taller) action!
This basically seems like the widescreen vs fullscreen debate back when tv's were 4:3. "People want their tv screen filled with picture, not black bars." So why not just shoot in 1:85:1 and be done with it?

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+
And more confused is where you have Snyder insisting on a 4:3 open matte framing and saying that THAT is an Imax image!
Clearly here they are just opening up the 2.39 mattes, so there will be more dead space top and bottom, which was never intended to be seen — AS WELL as, in some obvious shots in that promo, some CROPPING where VFX shots were not rendered in anything but 2.39 have been zoomed in, thus LOSING frame info left and right.
This IS exactly the same as pan and scan from widescreen to 4:3, where open matte framing and cropping was the norm. Here, it’s just a 16:9 equivalent, opening mattes and cropping to fill screens and destroying the originally intended widescreen framing.
This is why many newer streaming films have been settling on a 2:1 ratio, which still gives the wider feel but doesn’t have such wide lettboxed borders. But they really shouldn’t start going back and retro-fitting framing on older titles.
The wonderful thing about the 16:9 frame is that every ratio works within in it, so just play everything in OAR and be done with it! Grrr…!
