Highest grossing movie of that year was animated list

Found this on reddit. A list of all years an animated movie was the highest grossing that year at the box office. Rereleases don't count,

As 2024 inside out 2 was highest grossing last year.

List--
Here’s are the number one highest grossing film of the year that an animated film has reached. This does not include re-releases.

2024 - Inside Out 2 (Disney/Pixar) - Domestic: $653M - Internationally: $1.045B - Worldwide: $1.698B

2020 - Demon Slayer: Mugen Train (Toho/Funimation) - Domestic: $49.9M - Internationally: $457.2M - Worldwide: $507.1M

2013 - Frozen (Disney) - Domestic: $400.7M - Internationally: $880.1M - Worldwide: $1.280B

2010 - Toy Story 3 (Disney/Pixar) - Domestic: $415M - Internationally: $652M - Worldwide: $1.067B

2004 - Shrek 2 (DreamWorks) - Domestic: $441.4M - Internationally: $487.5M - Worldwide: $929M

1994 - The Lion King (Disney) - Domestic: $312.9M - Internationally: $458.2M - Worldwide: $771.1M

1992 - Aladdin (Disney) - Domestic: $217.4M - Internationally: $286.7M - Worldwide: $504M

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was indeed #1 highest grossing movie of 1937.

Pinocchio was not the highest grossing movie of 1940, in fact Disney lost money, but it had huge rerelease in 1945 that that made the money back several times over.

The same fate happened to other Disney releases: Fantasia , Cinderella, Bambi , Peter Pan, 101 Dalmatians , The Jungle Book . They didn't top the box office in the year of their release, but their re-releases grossed multiple times the amount of their original run.

Although, to be fair, The Jungle Book was a huge, huge hit in initial release, as sad as it was on the back of Walt's death. From people old enough to have been there, I know many adults (as in not just specifically with kids) went to see it as a regular movie-movie.
