Re: 10 Cloverfield Lane
So......people went to see 13 Hours, then? Huh. January.
Doesn't look a sequel-sequel to Cloverfield, just that they wanted to do a "Dysfunctional family in shelter with crazy Goodman dad" story, and just pasted Bad Robot's best-known franchise onto it.
If Abrams wanted to produce a sequel, he'd have kept the found-footage gimmick, although nobody really does that when found-footage thrillers get sequels anymore.

According to Abrams, it's not supposed to be a sequel. A "blood relative" set within the world.

It's still a sequel. The monster is probably the reason they're hiding in the first place, and I'm guessing Abrams called it a "blood relative" to keep people off of his scent.
Seriously, the way they were able to keep this a secret--in the age of the internet no less--is pretty remarkable.

I think most people were being distracted by another little film he was working on...

I wonder if this will reignite interest in looking for hidden connections with the Dharma Initiative.

And it looks like the viral marketing campaigns are kicking up.

Great, fun film! Try to go in as unspoiled as possible. I literally had a new theory about what in the world was going on every couple of minutes! Love it when a film keeps me guessing!
