"Galaxy Quest: Deluxe Edition DVD (due on 5/12)."
2-disc releases (I believe).
Does that mean there's finally going to be optional Vulcan, Romulan, and Klingon language audio tracks? An acknowledgment of the obvious franchise tie-ins?
Eh, but seriously... It's Star Trek VII: We Make Fun of Shatner!

^ And yet Stardust didn't quite achieve the same appeal for its similiar genre play?

For me? No. I found Galaxy Quest to be more earnest with its characters and performances, while in Stardust they all seemed to be very aware of the kind of film they were in.
To be honest, I do think working on VFX screens doesn't help a performance, an at least in Galaxy Quest they had the benefit of location work or sets. And it was a straight comedy, for the most part, that used professional comedians or actors true to the kind of characters they're known for, which gave it strength.
But in Stardust, there was a lot of overacting, and Robert De Niro pretending to be an effeminate pirate just doesn't cut it, I'm afraid.
