Jim Hill vs the Pirates

Post by Phil » July 12th, 2006, 8:57 am

I hate to pick on Jim, but he's an easy target.

After last week's nearly wall-to-wall coverage of Pirates of the Caribbean, he hasn't posted a single word this week about the movie or the record-breaking box office. It just makes one wonder if his critics are right.

When Cars opened, his article was about how, although the movie did well, it didn't get the box office numbers that were expected so it was a big disappointment for Disney and Pixar.

Now I wonder if he's desperately reworking an article he prewrote last week about how Dead Man's Chest's underperformance is shaking the foundations of Disney management.

lol. You could be right. I don't particuarly like Jim Hill. He has some sort of vendetta against Pixar.

Way too much Pirates coverage!

I think it might very well be trying to get in good with Disney management (especially after he plugged Over the Hedge  )

How about some more articles about what's goin' on with Feature Animation?

Are we talking about the new logo or "Pirates of the Caribbean 2"?

I split most of the logo chat off this thread and into the other logo discussion thread.

I thought some of you might like to know that DVD Active has the cover artwork for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Thanks Mickey! Looks pretty good. Pity Disney couldn't have put that much effort into the Cars DVD cover art too.

Good...the use of the augmented theatrical art is pretty much in line with the first DVD, though why are they bothering with a single disc?

Good to see they're keeping the same art for both versions though, so the 2-disc will match the original's 2-disc, save for the sliver border.

That "2" along the spine is a little off though, we're not all going to buy the first again to get a "1" on it, though we'll all get 3 anyway!

Then we'll get a trilogy box set when 4, 5 and 6 appear! ;)

Having just read the full list of specs for "Cars", it's nice to hear that we'll at least get the full boatload of extras (the kind we usually expect from Pixar) with "Dead Man's Chest".

I swear Cars lacklustre DVD is just to drive up sales when they do a double dip in months to come.
