Disney Pixar's Cars

It's Chick Hicks, and while he is an antagonist, he's not a full-blown Disney-style villain or anything.

Hmm, here's what someone said over at AnimationNation:

I read a couple of less than flatering reviews and found myself wondering if we'd seen the same movie.

I'm thinkin' critics are starting to get preeety sick of all these animated movies coming out.

You're right about Chick. He's not really a villain per say, just a jerk. LOL

After Lightning disappears from the racing scene (I won't say how), Chick gets a major ego boost and starts calling himself Thunder...because thunder comes before lightning. Get it? Because he'd finish before Lightning in a race! Haha.

But yeah, he's not like scheming throughout the whole movie or anything. He doesn't have henchmen, although he does have a really mean pitstop crew. No evil lair, no sexy female car mistress...Ok, now I'm stuck on The Incredibles. Heehee.

The point is, he's only a really competitive meanie. But don't worry. Every meanie get's his in the end.

Here's something fun I wanted to share. When Brandon and I went to MGM Studios, we watched the character parade they have every afternoon. The first 2 floats were Lightning and Mater! They moved like real cars and their eyes moved around really cool.

If I'm not mistaken, those cars are drivable from the inside aren't they?

I just saw a Cars thing on ABC family. I'm DYING to see this movie. Oh my god.

Yes they are. So were the cars at the World Premiere. Those didn't have moving eyes though. I have photos of those that I'll be posting later today in the WP thread.

Man - seeing pictures of these characters as 'real' cars makes me marvel at how real the CGI looks in the film.

At long last, I've selected and cropped the best photos Brandon and I took at the World Premiere. I'll be posting 3 different sets of photos. The first one is of everything before the red carpet. I took everything you see in this set.

Here is the second set of photos taken at the WP. These were all done by Brandon. Some of the photos are slightly blurry. Sorry.

Also, if I list someone as a guest, it's because I have no freakin' clue who they are. LOL

The only big voice actors that weren't at the WP were Michael Keaton and George Carlin. Paul Newman WAS there, but you could tell he was in really bad shape because they had to rush him down the red carpet.

This was the best we could do, but the man holding the red umbrella is John Ratzenberger.

Here is the final set of photos. I took all of these. It begins with shots of the speedway stage and ends with shots of the Cars characters that were set up outside the speedway exit. We stayed for hours after the movie was over just so I could get photos of every last thing I could. I think I drove Brandon nuts.

As you can see, each car could be driven right into the truck. The drivers had to stick their heads out the windows because the cars had eyes.

I could be wrong, but I remember lightnig actually comes before thunder as light travels much faster than sound?

Cars will also open at the same date in Taiwan. From what I've read, I'm pretty sure I would go to see it more than once! Just like The Incredibles!

Now that I think of it, it was Lightning teasing Chick that lightning comes before thunder. Geez. I think I need to watch it again on Friday, even though I was already planning to. LOL
