So I’m not getting the Shaw Bros logo on the front (?), but good to see this finally has a release. The villain all looks and feels too close to the Space Jam era though — if it has to always be aliens and space stuff, why not stick with the classics and let it be a truly equipped Marvin finally being able to carry out his ultimate master plan? Even more brand recognition there! Still looks fun enough, though, if a little frantic. I hope the story and characters can carry us through a full feature with the required pathos also needed to give us fully nourishing journey.

Yay! And then those numbers will be good and they'll rethink Scoob and Batgirl as well…!
Er… Yeah, have to say that’s a nice but pretty far out there dream at this point.
A fun idea, and you’d think that would make sense, but 1) this new movie isn’t going to break any records, and 2) Zaslav has tied up Coyote in so much red tax tape that whatever the budget, plus marketing, was already, he would also now need to cover the $30-35m write down that he claimed. A looney situation for sure.

So pre sales for looney tunes in america--are awful. Bot says it will be lucky to make $3m opening weekend. No one even heard of this movie on one of the big movie shows the marketing has been so bad and our amc has already shoved it to the tiny back rooms before it's even out.
This whole marketing for the movie has been such a fail. Only word of mouth exploding everywhere can save this movie now.

Keep in mind that for some reason this is being distributed domestically by Ketchup Entertainment, not Warner Bros. So not a huge surprise marketing seems non-existent!

Just got out of looney tunes. Pretty fun movie. Some creepy parts in spots were kind of surprising but a fun time. There are post scenes so heads up. Great having american 2-D animation on the big screen again. Shame only 7 people at our showing with no marketing. AMC guy told me when he saw my ticket he didn't even know about this movie till they got it, and he works at amc. Said he saw it yesterday and loved it and even he said they blew the marketing for this movie!

I blame Warner. Ketchup at least stepped up to give it a theatrical release. But this really should have been a Warner release with Warner marketing.

Re: Looney tunes return to the big screen in new animated film!
The AMC theaterplex here in Burbank only has it on one screen (out of 30!) .. and only two shows per day, on its opening weekend .. 2PM and 5PM .. NO evening screenings!
I almost don't expect it to be there even next weekend.
So I saw it this evening at the Universal Laemmle theater in North Hollywood, with an audience of about 40 people .. most of whom evidently worked on it, in some capacity (since they were applauding various names, during the end titles).
I was surprised to see a few names I recognized, up there .. like Brianne Drouhard (creator of the Harpy Gee webcomic and the Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld segment of the DC Nation anthology series) .. and Katie Rice (of Spümcø and Dumm Comics fame). Nice to see animation veterans like John Pomeroy and Dan Haskett were involved, as well.
The Day The Earth Blew Up is a very enjoyable romp .. well-worth seeing in a theater -- if you can find it in one.
Reminded me a lot of both Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation and Animaniacs: Wakko's Wish .. both of which had been originally conceived as theatrical features, before being released direct-to-video instead. I'm glad this one got that chance!

Re: Looney tunes return to the big screen in new animated film!
Black nerd, dave down under and others are trying to spread word on the movie saying "go see it". The biggest comment in their videos? "There is a new looney tunes movie?" This IS the biggest comment. No one knows this movie exists! Most said they want to see it now that they know but others are saying no screenings at their movies or screenings at bad times.
The movie made $1m opening day WITH no one knowing it's out. This could have done so well if wb had just freaking released it with a real marketing for the movie. Instead zaslab will say "see no one like animation".

Re: Looney tunes return to the big screen in new animated film!
$1m is actually excellent given the total lack of care for this release and Ketchup doing the best they can. Much bigger films with bigger campaigns have made much less. It's not "good", no, but at least it didn’t just do ten thousand dollars or something, which has been known on similarly marketed tItles and even bigger ones. That sad part is it isn’t being given the chance to show any legs due to the lack of screens…

In some good news for looney tunes our amc did add a few extra showings this week so that's a plus.
