I'm not sure Dacey was alive yet in the 80s!

OK, we have Atom Ant, but I would have loved to see it released as The Secret Quirrel/Atom Ant Show. Still, it's great to see the Pup and Bears shorts will also be included!

Wow -- I'm pleasantly surprised to learn that Precious Pupp and The Hillbilly Bears are a part of The Complete Atom Ant DVD set! :D I'd long-ago resigned myself to the notion that this would collect Atom Ant segments, only.

That bodes well for Squiddly Diddly and Winsome Witch appearing in a possible future Secret Squirrel DVD set .. should Warner Archive choose to offer one. Speaking of which, WA: SPECTRE is coming to theaters soon .. and Warner Bros' own The Man from U.N.C.L.E. re-vamp will be on DVD around the same time. Gotta strike while the iron is hot..!

The 1990s H-B toon 2 Stupid Dogs had an occasional segment titled Super Secret Secret Squirrel, which was actually a rather worthy successor to the 1960s show! I still have most of that series on 'taped-off-the-air' VHS cassettes, from 'way back when .. but it'd be cool to see it offered by Warner Archive, too, someday. Maybe.

------------------------------------------------

Yup; I first encountered Twice Upon A Time on HBO in the mid-1980s .. and I also had the movie for many years on Laserdisc. I'm glad to see Warner Archive making this quirky and fun-to-watch animated feature available for new & wider audiences to discover and enjoy -- but I'll be buying it too, to finally hear both versions of the soundtrack (the Laserdisc only had the 'family-friendly' dialogue).

WA's DVD cover art is missing ScuzzBopper, though (Botch's head 'scream'writer of nightmares, who dresses like a court jester) .. he has some of the best lines in the movie!

More and more, disc sales are becoming web-based. Store DVD shelves are being replaced by other products, so this makes sense. It's more efficient, too---- no need to press thousands of discs for thousands of stores and hope they sell. I'm just glad to see JLU come out on Blu-ray.

Got this via email. Not sure if it is new or even newsworthy so thought I'd put it to you guys:
Subject: TWICE UPON A TIME

Message: The Warner Archive has just release a DVD of this film after 30 years on the shelf:

Yeah, this comes from director John Korty, who is obviously glad to see his film finally come out and want to tell as many people as possible!

Unfortunately we didn't get a review copy but it's on my own personal wish list to pick up in my next WBAC batch sometime before the end of the year.

After a period of seeing few H-B releases from them, Warner Archive is on a roll again!

I'm a big fan of the maligned and semi-disastrous Real Adventures of JQ, and am grateful to see Season 2 finally being offered, and in its entirety yet.

Secret Squirrel was a must, especially after Atom Ant came out (though a co-release would have also sat well with me).

But Galtar?! Wow, that's one for fanatics only! That may include me, of course.

Never seen Galtar, but I'd like to!

Next up: Rankin-Bass's Wind in The Willows.

I'm not enough of a R-B fan to go for this, but nice to see it coming out amidst all the H-B material.

It's.............definitely NOT the Cosgrove-Hall stop-motion version, or even the Disney animated version.
R-B is not known for its intense voice performances or subtle story interpretations.

There were a couple of cel animated WITW features in the 80s and 90s, none of which (despite the admittedly evocative poster art of R/B's version) matched up to the 1949 Disney featurette-length segment or the long-running Cosgrove-Hall stop-motion series, both perfect in their own ways.
