Re: Li(ve)lo & Stitch
Been hearing nothing but good things about Marcel. So I'm game for this.

Quite an inspired choice. Excited to see how this turns out. Still hoping it goes theatrical.

https://thedisinsider.com/2022/11/23/ru ... lo-stitch/While casting is ongoing, we have heard that the role of Nani has already been cast. We are hearing Moana star Auli’i Cravalho is Disney’s choice for the role. While we can not confirmed that she has signed, we hear the studio has the role in mind for her, and has already met with director Dean Fleischer Camp. If what we are hearing is true, it would be no surprise, as Cravalho is a Disney favorite. She played the aforementioned Moana in the 2016 Disney Animation Studios film and reprised her role in 2018’s Ralph Breaks The Internet. She will next star in Darby and the Dead, debuting on the Disney-owned Hulu on December 2, 2022.

Re: Li(ve)lo & Stitch
Kind of as uninspired as this remake, though, donchathink? Just use the available in-house talent. And I’m still not sure why we are getting this. Yes, I know, just because its a Disney remake. But at least (most) of the others are based on popular stories (arguably made or remained popular due to Walt's originals), so you could say, if you wanted to be generous, that they offered new angles on established tales, but this was a new, contemporary story written and made for animation.
At this point it’s become an arbitrary practice, just going through the motions and just remaking everything because it’s an "animated Disney classic". Can’t wait for the live Goofy Movie where — in a bit of meta casting — Joey Lawrence plays the nutty dad!

Zach Galifianakis joins the cast. He's playing Pleakley according to other sites. I can see it.

Given the fact that Disney is currently trying to revive 90s Boomer-kid nostalgia for Max Goofy and Powerline (hey, it worked for Hocus Pocus!)...be careful what you satirize.

Re: Li(ve)lo & Stitch
So looks like they've abandoned the High School Mean-Girls version.
That's at least one good thing about hiring "prestige" name directors to try and justify their remakes--They're not in the Channel's boardroom, and don't know why they're doing it either EXCEPT to remake every scene from the original.

I think you're confusing two different movies. Auli'i Cravalho is going to be in Mean Girls, she was also speculated to be Nani in this remake but that turned out to be not true.

When I first clicked the link I half assumed it was going to be race/gender/trans/age swapped or something since that seems to be the way Disney likes to generate buzz lately!
