Why are there so many songs about rainbows?

I can only count two. Rainbow Connection, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

"There's a Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder", (Al Jolson) "She's a Rainbow" (Rolling Stones) and "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows" (Lesley Gore).

The Rainbow Theme, Rainbow, Sing A Rainbow (most obviously!), Catch A Rainbow… There really are so many songs about rainbows…!

And, sorry to be pedantic, but Somewhere Over The Rainbow is actually only called Over The Rainbow.

I suppose I'll continue to humiliate myself still further and mention that the Rainbow Brite theme exists as well.

And in fairness, I've seen the song referred to by both titles so many times that I wasn't sure which was correct.

I actually had a song about rainbows on a 7" record single when I was younger. And now I’ll bet I know what you are all wondering next…

(Anybody remember playing that old Encore board game where two teams picked a card with a word, and had to sing as many songs with that word in the title, back and forth?
"Rainbow" would have been a toughie.)

Pretty. Very reminiscent of the classic Muppet Show opening, only more shiny, gold and 3D!

Never got why it wasn’t just The Muppet Studio, like The Muppet Theater. Doesn’t look bad, but a little cheap: it’s not very well balanced. Hi-ho, or, er, ho-hum…!
