Here's a quote from Animation Nation about it (back in 2003)

She was working on “WildLife” the year that film crashed and burned. I was on the film as well. In all fairness, I can’t really blame the writers for this one. They only wrote what they were told.

In the summer of 2000, they showed the story reel to Roy Disney. He shut the film down.

Yeah, “Wilbur Robinson” is a go.
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Speaking of Wild Life, that was the working title for Madagascar.

As for The Wild vs. Madagascar, I believe production started on The Wild first even though Madagascar premiered first. However, when watching The Wild or Madagascar, I choose to view them both as original ideas. Even though a lot of things are similar, The Wild is going to turn out to be a completely different movie.

Looking at the pictures from The Wild that were posted today all I can say is, the retch-fest that started with the first sneak peek continues. Does anyone look at these pictures and not think of words like "creepy", "ugly", "horrible", and "what are they thinking"?

The new trailer certainly jazzes things up a great deal, but I somewhat agree that I'm not sure on the level of the look.

The voice cast sounds pretty durn great though.

Yep :) Animation looks great (especially Crocodiles!), design is not consistant. I like those crocodiles' look and coala is not bad. Giraffe and lion somehow lack edge (expressions quite dull...) but Lion's Giraffe's and crocs' voice cast sounds really good :) Coala's voice is a bit annoying though. Snake lacks in both design and voice departments... That's my opinion if someone would ask ;)

That clip was pretty awesome. The snake's voice is horrid. But everyone else was awesome. The gators ruled. I loved how they had the new york accents (the left gator sounded like Dodger from Oliver & Co.). I'm lookin forward to it.
