Yes, Herculoids. Finally. I had figured this would have come out right after Space Ghost, but that was about when retail releases of H-B series was basically ended. Still, it's funny that so many other shows (Space Kidettes!?) came out first.

WBshop has a limited-time offer for a Herculoids 'MOD-DVD / t-shirt combo' .. US$39.99, through June 30th.

There's a Herculoids coffee mug available, too! :)

That looks pretty nice, I must say. I expect I've got a review copy of the DVD coming my way, but I might have to grab the t-shirt by itself!

Yes indeedy: the disc to which Eric's link is pointing, for Herculoids (there, wasn't so hard to say it, was it? ;)), has just been confirmed as a review title for us, so Rand will be along in due course to share his thoughts on the show! :)

Reminder to all that Warner Archive has their Fourth of July sale on this weekend. I ordered a bunch of stuff, to fill out my Hanna-Barbera and George Pal collections, plus a few miscellaneous items. :)

Ooh, ooh, whajaget in that "Big Box of Warner Archive"? :)

There are a lot of B-movies and more Vitaphone compilation sets that I'd love but at $40 a pop they're still too expensive. I did finally put an order in for Invitation To The Dance and Rover Dangerfield, though, with more on the wish list for the next time they have a sale.

OK, for the record, Ben--- My order consisted of:

Hanna-Barbera (not classic stuff maybe, but it still appeals to me): Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space, Funky Phantom, Goober and the Ghostchasers, Speed Buggy (this largely catches me up on the H-B sets, though I still couldn't bring myself to order Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch)

George Pal: The Power, Atlantis, Doc Savage (even if the latter is just a tad better than the LD, it's worth it for under $15)

Cult classics/cheese/just curious: War of The Planets, Wild Wild Planet, The Green Slime, Cleopatra Jones and The Casino of Gold

Lord, I'll never watch everything I have in my collection. The only good thing about having this sickness is knowing I'm not the only one. ;)

The Green Slime is insane fun. Thanks for sharing...and I must know what you think of those others in caparison (apparently they make up some kind of unofficial trilogy though I'm not sure the "quality" holds up on Planets and Wild. LMK what you think, if you ever get around to them! :)

Warner Archive has just announced a Lucille Ball compilation (available on August 6th) which includes one of my favorite 'screwball' comedies: Go Chase Yourself..! I'd videotaped this wacky movie off AMC way back in the 1980's, and watched until it completely wore out.

.. not an animation release .. but yay, Warner Archive!

Also contains "Look Who's Laughing", arguably the funniest of Fibber McGee & Molly's few transitions to movies, for the old-radio curious, and with Bergen & McCarthy to boot:
(Harlow Wilcox, having no Johnson's Wax to sell, only appears in an uncredited cameo.)
If you're not into old-radio, but Fibber's voice sounds familiar, it's probably because Jim Jordan came out of retirement for Disney's "The Rescuers".

Animation and classic movies go hand in hand in my book, Droo! :)

I seem to remember Ball starred in a series of Blondie & Dagwood comedies for RKO, that I used to love on TV. I'll certainly be looking out for those if a set (I think there were around seven or eight of 'em) came to the WBAC, but these look fun, even if I wish they'd balance out the disc stacks with two movies apiece.

Nevertheless, add 'em to the wish list pile! :)

I don't think Lucy appeared in any of the Blondie films, but there is a set of them out. The video quality is likely questionable (10 films on two discs, though they are quick films, apparently syndicated versions), but it's very cheap. I have it on my own wish list:

Ben,

You might be confusing Lucille Ball with another actress.

The actress who played Blondie in all those Blondie & Dagwood movies was Penny Singleton who was the voice of Jane Jetson in The Jetsons. She performed the voice of Jane Jetson on the two Jetsons series and the motion picture. She died around 8 years ago.

Very distinctive voice. I would never confuse her with someone else! She was also quite a looker in her day, too.

I have a 2-DVD set of (10) Blondie movies that was released years ago by a company called Platinum Disc Corporation. They've also done releases of Betty Boop, the theatrical Superman shorts, Popeye, Charlie Chaplin silent shorts. and many, many other copyright-lapsed/public domain films. I've seen Platinum disc collections at Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Haven't seen the Blondie set in a while so it may be out-of-print or not carried in many brick-and-mortar stores anymore.

I guess the quality of these sets is decent... I haven't heard complaints about Platinum the way you hear complaints about Alpha Video, Delta Entertainment, and many, many other companies that specialize in PD films.

Nobody's sued this company for all I know so at least some of the Blondie films must be in public domain now.

It's the team-up you demanded! And its better than most of the other 1980s H-B telefilms.

And just off the subject (and probably better for the DMR thread):

Since the Disney Movie Club has now gone Blu-ray, and most of its Exclusive titles are now out for retail, Disney's now experimenting with the Studio Archive MOD format, with the "Generations" line--
Consisting currently of "Amy", two 90's TV-movies, and absolutely no promotion whatsoever (only found out about it from Digital Bits), it's still nice to see more studios jump on DVD-R "charity" for obscure titles.

Don't know whether they're trying to bury this, or are just severely New At This, but deserves a mention.
