I don't know if anyone noticed, but Jeffrey Katzenberg has done almost no personal publicity for Over the Hedge. (meaning interviews and such)
I watched HBO First Look: Over the Hedge (also saw the HBO docs for Mad, Shark Tale, Spirit, Sinbad, POE, Shrek, Shrek2 and El Dorado) and unlike those specials JK did not appear once. I don't think that's ever happened before.
I could be wrong, but I think this might have to do with the whole Shareholder lawsuit thing--supposadly JK "misled" consumers by saying lots of positive things about Madagascar in interviews, which led to the whole lawsuit thing... So there may be legal reasons for this.
Either that, or he was just too busy.
Wiggum: It's a goat, you know, one of them lady goats.
Patty: There are no lady goats, a lady goat is a sheep!

That reminds me of how in The Simpsons the whole town was trapped inside Flanders' bomb shelter (Bart's Comet episode) and they were playing this barnyard guessing game:Yeah...with male cows!?!?!?

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Probably Katzenberg wasn't as involved with OTH as he was with some of the studio's other films. Either that, or he's lost some of his influence on the company since Paramount took over distribution rights.

I doubt that. Katzenberg has had a lot of influence on every DW release, and he was one of the producers of Hedge as well.
Plus Paramount taking over distribution, in my opinion, wouldn't have anything to do with how much K promotes the pics. Marketing is still done by DW.
Plus why would Paramount not want K to get involved in the publicity?
This whole thing is weird. I think it just has to do with time constraints. Oh well, who knows?

I think it could be simply that his associates in Geffen and Spielberg both have their own companies in addition to DreamWorks.
I wouldn't be surprised if JK hasn't simply been super busy dealing with the Paramount merger and more concerned with the day to day running of things while S and G are off directing and overseeing their own projects and labels.
Then there's the Flushed Away production hiccups and he's been heavily involved in keeping that on track, so I'd put it down to being busy and letting a film speak for itself...

I'm sorry, but Hammy owns Scrat. Scart doesn't even talk!
Isn't that what they've been doing for the last 11 years?S and G are off directing and overseeing their own projects and labels.
Yeah...that makes sense.so I'd put it down to being busy and letting a film speak for itself...
