Yep, it's been out for only a day and a half, and it's already the fastest-selling DVD of the year:

I'm guessing that it's selling well with families. "Chipmunks" had a ton of kid appeal.

I Love Chipmunks stuff (and cartoons, movies, etc) but man this movie really was pretty bad. I loved the animated chipmunks though but the movie itself was a fail.

I kind of liked it. IMO, the only thing that's really, truly wrong with it is that it lacks a proper climax and because of that, the ending fizzles rather than sizzles (Shrek 3 had the same problem. I seriously hope this isn't the start of a trend). I might get the dvd, because I did find it enjoyable, but I wouldn't pay full price. I'll be able to get it used for half-price or less in under a month, so I'll wait.

I rented it last night, and watched it with my roommate. We both thought it was absolutely hilarious (mind you, we were also drinking quite a bit during the entire film).

Seriously, this film had a ton of potential. Problem is, it was incredibly predictable, and strayed away from logic way too many times (even when you're making a film about singing chipmunks, you're still expected not to insult your audience, and use a certain amount of logic). Such a shame because like others have said, it actually could've been quite good.

I'm a big Jason Lee fan (although, oddly, I've never seen My Name Is Earl), so I enjoyed it just cause of him and the fact the the chipmunks were funny was a bonus.

You should sometime, it's funny!

With all this talk, I really need to rent this pronto. Curiosity mostly, but also I'm a huge Alvin fan.

It was alright actually. It wasn't as horrible as the previews made it look (although when the characters "get Munk'D" and go for a more urban feel, You long to hear the original 'Chipmunk song' just one more time.

There are few references to the Chipmunks history. But an end credit tribute to Ross Bagdasarian and the various incarnations of the Chipmunks was a nice touch.

Beware! The new version of the 'Witch Doctor' song is engineered to get stuck in your head...

In case anyone here is interested, I thought I'd let you know that Paramount has rereleased "The Chipmunk Adventure", I assume in an effort to compete with the new movie. Still no good bonuses on the dvd itself, but the rerelease does include the movie's soundtrack as an extra disc. I hadn't got it yet, so the soundtrack nudged it over the edge and I picked it up last night (love that soundtrack. It's a personal favorite, goofy as that sounds). If any of you guys want this movie, now's the time.

Surprising that the first made so much money. I thought my family were the only people on the planet who played Chipmunk CDs at Christmas
