Well .. not Dr. Seuss, that's for sure ..Meg wrote:Very cool, untilt he characters start talking. Who writes this stuff?
I agree; the teaser is lovely to look at, on every level .. but the dialogue sticks out like a sore thumb.
What is it with Jim Carrey and Dr. Seuss, anyway..? Wasn't mangling The Grinch enough?!

Despite how it may sound, I actually am looking forward to this .. and I'm hoping it's good!

and, Congrats, Daniel ..

It's obvious they're not going for Seuss' original lines by this then, shame.
I found it interesting how Carell actually gets more "voice time" than nominal star Carrey, who's voice doesn't seem to...how do we put this...work in animation?
Without a good character to hide behind - heck even the Grinch gave him something to work with - he's pretty limited and might as well been Will Ferrell or someone. Yep, the film's got Jim Carrey in it, but that doesn't seem to be a feature of it. Again, shame.
But the LOOK: wow...Blue Sky has really come on. I can't wait to see this based on the designs...I just hope the acting and crazy script won't make this an overbearing bore fest like Robots all over again.

I guess it's to be expected, when you take a story book and try to expand it to feature film length (besides the robotic people, this is mainly what killed Polar Express). Though I really dislike how casual Carrey's Horton is. I always considered him to be a simple, well-meaning kind of fellow. (then again, I really dislike Jim Carrey anyway )
Though I gotta agree on the look. This is probably how Seuss books should have been adapted from the getgo - it looks great. I never saw Grinch or Cat in the Hat because they just looked... freaky in live action. But this film... the look alone will probably be enough for me to try catching it at the dollar theater or from the library when it's released.

Hmmm..... I was excited when I first heard about this, but now I'm feeling kinda skeptical....
I really hope it isn't too terrible. I didn't really care much when they adapted Cat in the Hat or the Grinch, but Horton hears a Who has always been my favorite Dr.Seuss book ever.
I'd be kinda sad if they messed this one up

New poster! I like it. So much better than the Alvin ones.
