So to change the topic, when do we think the DVD release will be? I'm excited to get the DVD already (there are only so many times you can see it in the theater before you run out of money :P) . :D

Disney usually releases a big family title to home video in late March. I imagine A Christmas Carol won't be released until closer to Christmas 2010. Hence, I think The Princess and the Frog will be released in March.

I have The Princess and the Frog on DVD already -- thanks to ASIFA-Hollywood (as a screener, for Annie Awards voting consideration). 8)

I will definitely be purchasing it on Blu-ray, when it's commercially-released. It's a gorgeous-looking film. :)

I've heard it will be, though the usual sources haven't confirmed--
It's standard-window practice to aim for the Easter sales.

My friend was trying to tell me industry standard is 6 months... but I think he's making things up. Is there a current standard for films like this? I thought it was just after the movie was out of theaters and there was a decent market time (like spring, Easter, early summer or Christmas, etc)?

I hope your right Eric about the Easter sales, I believe you. :D

Easter is the obvious market they will aim for.

BTW, droo, not to point any fingers at you, but it does crack me up how the movie biz complains about piracy and then sends out pristine DVD copies to voters of various tribes. I have a friend here who gets AMPAS screeners and, although they carry the "do not copy" blurb every few minutes and some can only be played on the Academy's "locked" players, they are still able to be ripped and those "do not copy" notices either blurred or blacked out, especially on those titles where those notices appear in the bottom of the widescreen border!

I'm not, of course, condoning this, but it does amuse me just how many of the biggest titles of the year are practically given away "free"...and I know for a fact from another source that they don't always fall into the "right" hands...
