Re: Li(ve)lo & Stitch
Except of course, the periodic reminder that Disney doesn't have any REASON to put them theaters anymore--
Even if the motivation for making Lilo isn't "Revival of relatively obscure IP", Chapek's fascination with streaming roots back to the same reason most cheapskate studios fell in love with streaming for middle-tier family films:
Not having to spend any money on prints and distribution.
Which is particularly true for the LAs that aren't the draw they were five years ago--That's a privilege now reserved for core titles, like the Big 90s Four, and even then, Aladdin had to recoup Will Smith's expensive salary, Lion King had to recoup an expensive CGI budget, and Mulan was designed for overseas sales.
We'll probably see the Moana remake get theaters to recoup Dwayne Johnson's expensive salary, but as for whether Lilo gets stateside release, that probably does depend on how crazy the Japanese are over Stitch.

Re: Li(ve)lo & Stitch
I'm sorry, Eric, but that whole post was absolute tosh.
Paragraph 1) It is well documented that Iger wants to not just focus on streaming and has admitted D+ was leaned on far too much during the pandemic.
2) Lilo & Stitch is NOT "obscure". Not even "relatively". Please get that into your brain.
3) L&S is a smallish spend for Disney. While streaming doesn’t really make sense for how much cash they could be leaning on the table, there’s no indication that it will change from being released on D+ first (as with Pan), even in Japan, where the franchise remains popular, as you also know. Moana of course is already set for a big screen release.

More set photos:
It's all wrong, Lilo's not wearing her signature red and yellow swimsuit!

Re: Li(ve)lo & Stitch
Apparently, from the sign, "Bad Dog" is the Blue-Harvest set-pseudonym for the location shoot.
That should last about five minutes.

Re: Li(ve)lo & Stitch
I dint think they’re seriously suggesting this is a secret title. It’ll probably be the production company name.

Oh, you mean like, "Blue Koala Pictures will be shooting 'Bad Dog' today"?
(So, is it Bad Dog shooting a movie called "Blue Koala", or Blue Koala shooting a movie called "Bad Dog"...?)

Ah, didn’t know they already had Blue Koala as their company name. But, yes, exactly that kind of thing.

Filming at Kahala Hotel:
Thinking it's the scene where Nani is asking for a job and Stitch kisses the old woman. Hopefully still with an Elvis touch!
