Seriously, aside from it being a cheery blowoff to a fan question, think the director's rather tragically misinterpreting why Marvel made Guardians in the first place--
Just like a lot of other unfortunate execs thinking "They like obscure characters now!"
(Besides, the headline isn't that Marvel's doing one, it's that Gunn wants to do one--And people in hell want water, but....)

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see her show up in GOTG 2, frankly. They could change the myology to find a way to "organically" insert her into things. Also, for some reason, I can imagine Sarah Silverman playing her.
