Re: Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
In addition, the latest trailers are starting to back off on the wacky Horton-esque Chris Meledandri gags (for some reason "That's a woman??" had our theater laughing hysterically...oh, lord) and are trying to paste in more of "Things aren't going to get better, they're not" to try and kiss up to the book fans and persuade them that it's the green, progressive eco-fable they knew and loved.Lorax promotions to go in a different direction
Associated Press reports that Universal Pictures’ promotions for their upcoming film Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax are taking a different tack from the usual studio campaigns for animated movies. With partners that include the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Whole Foods Market, the marketers are are being more selective with their tie-ins and are focusing on activities like planting trees and conserving energy.
When it's this little and this late, that's called "Panic ad".

Which trailer do you mean, Eric? The international trailer and the second trailer both came out not too long after the first, so I don't really think it's a reactionary thing.

Re: Re:
The current full trailer #2 (that explains the whole "Thneedville" premise), which backs off slightly on the horny-boy-with-airplane-meets-Rapunzel plot, by making some plot connection with showing us how it relates to the Once-ler and his extended flashback actually being IN the movie. The Zany Bishojo Evalana wrote:Which trailer do you mean, Eric? That "new" trailer actually came out months ago.The current full trailer #2 (that explains the whole "Thneedville" premise), which backs off slightly on the horny-boy-with-airplane-meets-Rapunzel plot, by making some plot connection with showing us how it relates to the Once-ler and his extended flashback actually being IN the movie.

A spinach omelette as Green Eggs and Ham....Simple but effective.
(Over at the Dr. Seuss section of Universal Studios park, they have a GE&H concession of dyed omelette sandwiches, which at least seems closer to the spirit of the original.
Not to mention recycling trash bins with signs that read "UNLESS...you recycle.")

Yeah! The reviews are back up!! Sorry you didn't enjoy it though. I liked it a lot, thoughI agree it was a bit heavy-handed in many spots!
I love all things cinema, from silent movies to world cinema to animated cinema to big blockbusters to documentaries and everything in between!
