Probably because of the question you asked SDf, which wasn't needed.

Ooh, we're getting so many members from UD! I'm over there too, but haven't posted in quite sometime. Hi Super Disneyfan and welcome! :)

I do not understand why you asked Daniel instead of Ben :?

Dusterian - on second thought I think the animation looks kind of bad.

Once Upon A Dream, No, I live in Holland.
But some of my relatives come from England so that's why.
And I meant the way you give your answers and how you posts and grammar look.

and Daniel, Thank you!
I remember you from the Cinderella III topic over there!

I'm glad that you see what I saw now. It's not necessarily the animation studio's fault, but if Disney really wanted to make this they should have gone to a better studio or kept Disney Toon Studios.

Ben, I read on another forum from someone who knew a lot of what was going on in Disney Toon Studios, "DisneyToon Studios had enough time to alter the animation (meaning, telling the external animation companies) so she would look good." Know anything about that?

I don't know anything about the working practices in the unit, only a little on how they interacted with the satellites. It seemed "logical" that LMIII would be mostly outsourced...these films usually alternated between an Australian-animated one and a Japanese-animated one, even if they all carried the "DisneyToon" logo (DisneyToon basically being the feature-length arm of WDTVA in Burbank).

From what I understand, though, all the coaching in the world can not always save a project or help an outsourcing studio complete the work on model. Boy, I'd sure hate to see what Ariel looked like before the DisneyTooners managed to get in and offer some advice. Even then, though, I would wager that this was only on the most offensive off-model scenes. It's likely that they would have used animators somewhat already experienced in these characters...those that perhaps worked on Ariel's Undersea Adventures or the second DTV movie.

The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning

Post by Dusterian » January 26th, 2008, 1:19 pm

Well, I wonder if Disney Toon Studios didn't do it, because that person said they didn't know how Ariel could look so off when they "had enough time."

So DisneyToons actually alternated between Japan and Australia? But Australia did all the features, and Japan all the...rest? And eventually Japan stopped and it was just Australia and that's when they got really good? Do you think they were good Lion King 1 1/2 onard or Lilo and Stitch 2 onward or Bambi 2 onward?
