Zoidberg: I'll have a look but I warn you, I'm an expert on humans, not robots.
Fry: Er, I'm not Bender, I'm Fry.
Zoidberg: Really? I thought you were the robot.
Fry: Nope, human.
Zoidberg: Alright, alright, spare me your life story.

now to get back on topic...

Has anyone thought about who will voice Slinky?
(or will they honour Jim varney and remove slinky from the 3d one)

Yeah I say no Slinky for #3 and they better give him a nice dedication or something at the end.

I doubt they'd leave him out entirely, since he was a popular character....... My guess is that they'll just find a similar voice actor (and maybe give the character a smaller role so it won't be as noticeable).

Otherwise young children will probably watch it and say "Hey, where's Slinky?"

That's true.

But, somehow I can't see Pixar doing that....I think they will just write him out of the script, probably by "Oh, Slinky was donated to some kindergarten or relative."

Also, did Joe Ranft do any voices there other than Wheezy?

(Plus, can you imagine if Disney did end up doing TS3 on their own? How would they have replaced John Ratzenberger I wonder??)

******************************************************

Also, is it just me, or does it kind of seem like the Toy Story films (which I do like a lot) take place in the 1950s/early 1960s?

Andy has no visible computer.
Andy doesn't play video games. (although we assume he owns that Buzz Lightyear game )
Andy doesn't watch TV, that I could see. (hey, his toys watched more TV than he did. :?)
Andy doesn't IM, have an ipod, or cell phone. (Or e-mail, mp3, etc...)
He has rock'em/sock'em robots, a slinky, an astronaut doll, a cowboy doll and toy soldiers. Do kids even still play with those anymore?

Let's say he's ten in TS2. Assuming he'll be about twelve in TS3 (sort of the classic "outgrowing childhood" age, give or take a few years of course) will Pixar actually portray him as a child living in....what, 2009 or 2010, or a child living in 1963??

It would be hilarious if Andy got a PlayStation or something and spent all his time with it instead of his toys. That might actually make an interesting storyline.

He has a super nintendo that has 3d graphics...soooo, I have no idea what time or place it is in toy story land :D

Now if andy grew up a little for the third movie, I'd love to see an older version of Molly.

Naturally, some toys would get shipped to her room making an interesting concept of the toys having to sneak between rooms to meet up.
And off course a lot of new toy characters.

Some more barbies, my little pony and what else girls like to play with
(Plus, can you imagine if Disney did end up doing TS3 on their own? How would they have replaced John Ratzenberger I wonder??)
I'm guessing it would be cancelled anyway because Tom hanks would propably say no (Tim allen would say yes)
Tom hanks' voice is a lot harder to imitate then Tim allens.

Yeah, except if she's actually playing with the Barbies they'll have to make them be more than just sex objects the way they did in TS2....

How about Dr. Barbie? Veterinarian Barbie?

Even a mommy Barbie would be better than ditzy pool babes.

Yeah, I don't think Nintendo had 3d graphics until N64 came out!

Anyways....all I meant was that these films kind of feel like they exist in a time capsule.

I think that's what a lot of people like about them in a way, especially adults.

And do kids still play with speak 'n spells?? Nowadays they'd have a CD rom, at least. I wonder if little kids today even knew what that was supposed to be.

Having Al the Toy collector was a smart move because it let you move the whole thing back to a 1950s/1960s Toy World with Woody's Round Up and all those vintage toys, pez dispensers and record players....::?

If Al's not in TS3, it'll be much harder for them to keep that "old fashioned toys" tone.

At least in my opinion....:)

Actually, if you go back to that TS3 thread we had here from a long time ago, I think there were articles coming out that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were seriously considering coming back, even if Pixar wasn't there. It really looked like, for a while, that Disney's TS3 was getting a green light.

John Ratzenberger specifically said he wouldn't if Pixar wasn't included--he's "a Pixar man" and everything, he said he even played on their softball team! :D

Exactly, and it reminds me a great deal of my own childhood
Aaaaah, Memories :D

He won't be in TS3, pretty sure of that ( maybe just in a tv commercial )
But you're right it will be hard to keep that certain vibe.

making a third toy story is a hard thing to do storywise anyway,
I hope they pull it off and make it as good or even better then the 2nd one.

Me too! :)

(Hey, Andy should have an ipod--great product promotion for Steve Jobs! :)

And if he has a computer, of course it'll be a Mac.  :P
