That's true, but most of Randys material sound nearly identical. But I guess we'll never know ;)

You hated HotR Meg? That's a shocker.

Basically a re-cap of what we read on the Animation Guild blog and the secrets of Pixar storytelling.

Funny how JHM tries to use the screenwriting expo as a means to cut Pixar some slack, when reporting about how Pixar disdains any kind of villain, "I want" song or "happy village moment".....well, doesn't exactly bode well for Frog Princess fans because....that IS what they want to see again.

EDIT: In case it wasn't clear, Jim Hill didn't write this story--it was contributor Sean Kennally.

"Fat man with his kids and dog
Drove in through the morning fog
Hey there Rover, come on over...

Red headed lady, reaching for an apple
Gonna take a bite, nope, nope,
She gonna breathe on it first, wipe it on her blouse.
She takes a bite, chews it once, twice, three times, four times, Stops!
Saliva workin', takes a hard long look at Randy ...five times
Fat old husband walking over.

Lois: Let's get the hell out of here.

They're walking down the road
Left foot, right foot
Left foot, right foot
Left.."

I like Randy Newman's "Time of Your Life" in A Bug's Life, and I really like "I love to see you smile" in Ron Howard's "Parenthood." (Which McDonald's basically ripped off for their commercial, unless they paid him royalties or something...)

But like I said before: his style, orchestration and the themes of his songs are WAY too modern for a fairy tale.

"When She Loved Me" is a great song, but the ideas and melody would NOT fit a princess film.

Plus like many of his songs, it tells the story...it doesn't elaborate on Jessie's feelings much or what her hopes are...just tells what happened to her. We get most of her inner feelings from the great animation and visual storytelling, NOT Randy's song.

I Love To See You Smile and You've Got A Friend In Me are essentially the same song though, even down to the basson. Try singing one against the other...bingo!

Also, the song "If I didn't have you" on the credits of Monsters Inc also sounds even more similar to "You've got a friend in me". (although I actually like it much better. Maybe it's because it's actually sung by someone OTHER than Randy Newman--John Goodman and Billy Crystal)

Also remember when the Simpsons spoofed DW with a CGI film called "Cards" with "I don't want to be a 3, I want to be a 8!" or something like that anyway.
It seemed much more like a Pixar film than a DW one to me.

BTW, LOOOOOVED the Simpsons trailer! Especially the CGI spoof.

:D

I loved that too :) ...But the big names, pop cuture refs, and the name "Cards" seemed to be poking more fun of DW.

An interesting piece of news/information/rumour/possibility surfaces in this little rant here on The Frog Princess...

Are you the writer of the blog? I'm just curios because you have the same link in your sig?... :?

Anyway, that was a sigh of relief, I think. If it is true, than maybe it was a wise decision to get Randy.

Funny how they mention Menken fans were dissapointed, and saying John L. Is making Disney a 'Pixar 2'. Jumping to conclusions much?

I was at least hesitant in saying we don't know much, at least now we have an idea.

How daring of Disney, but its about time! They already did The Proud Family which was Disneys very first cartoon centered around african americans, now a possibility of a original movie?

I Can hardly wait for more rumors :D
