I think it will do very well...maybe not as good as Nemo but quite good, like 200 mill or something like that. Incredibles did well but compared to Monsters, Nemo and the others, not that great. Ditto the Incredibles DVD sales (is that SEC investigation still going on?) I think it's harder for people to relate to cars...but then people said the same thing about fish.
Oh and there's this:

But still, I am getting excited about this.

Oh Vi ! I don't know why so many people are still under impression that "The Incredibles" did "not that great" comparing to Monsters or Toy Story. It's quite simple to take a look at boxoffice results... The Incredibles is still second highest grossing Pixar movie (behind Nemo) and beats in that department Monsters Inc. both domecticaly and worldwide. What's more production costs were lower...
I don't know if it will be possible for "Cars" to achieve boxoffice numbers similar to Nemo's or Incredibles' because of saturation of animation market this year but it has definitely big potential to pass 200 millions $ mark in US.

I'll also add to that the fact that The Incredibles was the top grossing, best reviewed, and most award-winning DVD of 2005. I think it also sparks from a downturn in the whole market. Not to mention the November release as compared to a summer opening of the original theatrical debut. If placed head-to-head on an even playing field The Incredibles would be at least second perhaps even first among successful Pixar films (err... that's basically all of them LOL =P ).

I'm not really sure but some people still call a film a musical even if it only has background songs. (like say, Spirit) It's still fairly uncertain, at least in my opinion, that Disney will go back to the whole Broadway thing. And like I said not just songs in the background but characters singing, dancing, etc...I still don't think Pixar is very big on this.I think we'll start to see them in animation more (aren't Enchanted and Rupunzel going to be musicals?).
Wasn't it one of the reasons why they dropped Gnomeo and Juliet?
