Monster House Trailer

Ugh.
I really, really really, REALLY don't like motion capture. The movements of all the characters look so terrible! It's such a shame, too, because this sort of kind of looks like it had a decent story, plus the house is awesome.

hehe - yep- I've seen it last night and I must admit that my opinion is quite similar... gummy movements and facial expresion. House itself maybe is nice, but I don't like color scheme of that movie, shading. They tried to make this movie more stylized and exagerated than Polar Express but stopped somewere in between - character proportions, skin facture, hair and cloth looks quite stylized (aspecially hair) but more realistic lighting, motion capture, facial capture and photo textures. It dosn't look appealing to me... Those grey faces... I really much more prefere visual style of another movie made by the very same group o people - Open Season.

Haha. Why? Is it that bad?
I remember seeing a trailer for it when I went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire. I thought it was pretty neat. I haven't been able to see this one yet, but how could it be bad?

Well, isn't it supposed to look creepy? Not every animated movie can have a bright, colorful, cheerful look to it. Corpse Bride wasn't like that, for the most part. I'm not saying I'm a fan of CB though. =P

No no, I'm not talking about the look of the movie; I'm talking about the character animation. The movement of everyone is terrible; it doesn't go with the style of the characters at ALL.PixarVixen wrote:Well, isn't it supposed to look creepy? I consider Monster House and Polar Express to be more like a big long special effect than an actual animated movie.
