Yeah, it says:
The looming box office failure almost certainly signifies the end of this endeavor at the studio.
There ya go.

Call it conjecture, call it rumour, call it speculation, but the Spidey spinoffs are dead. After the embarrassments of Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven, why would they continue? Sure, they could change their minds in five years, but for now--- DEAD. Spidey films without Spidey in them are a bad bet at this point.

Anything else Sony says now is just idle spin and damage control.

I set through the first two Venoms, as disjointed as they were, and saw Morbius the other night. Gawd it was awful. None of these films have been any good but if they’re smart they’ll use all or at least Venom in a future Holland film to at least bring “value” to these earlier titles.

If they are not doing as many spin-offs they may choose to wait even more to make another as looks like kraven domestic may only make $10m opening weekend!

The real issue is, apart from being truly terrible films in their own right, that the wider general public just don’t know who these characters are. Venom, yes, the "black baddie" from some Spider-Man movie, but Morbius or Kraven? And Madame Web is some kind of girl-Spider-something…? They’re not going to get it and there isn’t the Spidey association that makes these films viable after the core geeks and then the more casual fans turn up, so they don't have general crowds supporting that. And if the films are bad on top of that, then the casuals start to drop off and even the core geeks smell a rat, leaving only the truly devoted (true believers need not apply, they know the score!) to go out of curiosity, which is where Kraven's minimal take will come from. And who thought anyone would give a hoot about Kraven The Hunter anyway!? None of this even points to an eventual showdown, so it’s like WB's DC attempts to do a Marvel. You can’t just jump in with characters the people don’t know!

They didn't know blade, mib, the mask, ant-man, iron man, gotg, the crow or shang chi was also. Many didn't know who the heck iron man, black panther or black widow was. Heck dcs biggest ips in the 80s were batman, superman and--swamp thing. You think people knew who swamp thing was before that movie? ST had toys, kids books, live series, cartoon and more!

It doesn't matter if you are an unknown. Star wars was an unknown. Almost every new ip is. Making a good movie does matter and any not known hero like blade or the mask could do well but sony let the morb team do madame web even after morb bombed. They are making these to keep spider-man rights and up to this point clearly didn't care how good they were or were just making dumb choices, or they would have never hired the same to team to do madame web. Odd thing is they had some better people making kraven so it makes it even more a shame it ended up this way.

Yes, but all those other wannabe franchises were appealing or at last intriguing…! ;)

And none of the more obscure ones ever became the equivalent of billion-dollar blockbusters. Plus marketing and being good films helps!

On the other hand, at least the start and end the year has a kind of symmetry to it…
