Compare that to the trailer that just dropped for something called “The King of Kings”—as I said, we have a lot of animated Jesus films—which apart from the Charles Dickens framing device looks about as generic as this stuff gets. Look at how stiff Jesus moves here.

Light of the World
Okay, I have no idea where this came from—and I’m not sure if the world needs still another animated Jesus movie—but I’m legit impressed by how strong the animation is here? Like I have no idea who is producing this, but it’s clear they got some talented people to work on this.

You can tell the quality differences just from the poster frames!
But too much of a Moses feel in the trad-drawn one, though. I kept thinking I was seeing POE outtakes here and there! And why is Jesus always a light brown-haired white dude!?
On the second one…yes, because the first person you think of after Jesus is Charles Dickens…! It’s true he did write a book for his own children, which is where this takes its inspiration, but it’s still a bit of a bizarre setup.
Love how the scores for both are totally interchangeable!

Re: Light of the World
It looks less like Egypt to me and really more like Secret of Kells from a character design standpoint.
Also from Angel Studios (the people behind the Dickens film), they’re releasing a Bible-themed anime which…doesn’t look terrible?
