That didn't take long. EW reported that pixar is making a animated film based on marvel comics ant-man and the wasp!

Calm down, Gaastra. As cool as this seems, just because they're interested doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen (or if it does it'll be a few years before we see it cause these things take time). Personally, I'd love to see Pixar do Howard The Duck.

And "said to be eyeing" isn't "Making"--

It could be:
A) AN animated company is looking to give us a DTV Ant-man to help along Edgar Wright's stalled movie (the one they had left over from Stan Lee's loopy memo, which they now feel they "need" to do for separate-Avenger canon), and the article immediately assumed Pixar would do all of "Disney/Marvel"'s animation from now on,
or
B) Pixar is planning to corporate-synergetically "help" Marvel out with one of the animated adaptations, and Ant-man happened to be on a list of loose projects not currently claimed by Lionsgate.

(Leaving aside
C) Ben's note that "All Marvel needs is two flops to go under", and Marvel's corporate-anal insistence on doing Henry Pym at all is already considered damaged goods at the company, hence more fretting about taking no chances and Leaving It to a Professional.)

It makes good copy, but let's not get on our conclusion-leaping spring boots and mutate it to the "Kewl, will Brad Bird be directing??" fringes, 'kay?
(And seriously: The 90's-nostalgic Eisner-grudge "Knowing Disney, they'll probably put Julie Andrews in it!" gags are getting old. FAST.

Of course now, two flops <I>wouldn't</I> hurt Marvel at all financially, but would give the Mouse House more leverage over their creative movie decisions.

Given the EW wording, I would reckon this is further along the line than we think already. Pixar is never going to go for a massive character anyway, and doing Ant-Man is as good a fit for them as anything, especially since it would be sold more on the indestructible Pixar name than Marvel's, anyway.

I think both names carry a lot of weight. Marvel has already shown that their lesser characters can carry a good movie as evidenced by the very entertaining Ghost Rider (in fact, Ghost Rider is one of my favorite Marvel films, though you can call it a guilty pleasure if you like). If Pixar actually does do Ant Man, I will await the results eagerly.

Could be that Pixar just hasn't had a chance yet to say "Sorry, we're too busy with our OWN projects"--
But does rather seem to come from the same "Disney tells Pixar what to do!" fallacy that created all the "Disney will tell Marvel what to do!" panicking in the first place.
...Boy, those Eisner fears just die hard, don't they?

Am guessing that someone just speculated on the 'bug' angle and tried to put two and two together.

(Yyyyeah. That sounds a LOT more like Internet rumors. Not known for their creativity or versatile appraisals of back work.)

Actually, I think we were wrong about him. Since he left, the quality of Disney's film and TV output has severely slid downhill (with exceptions, such as Enchanted and Meet The Robinsons). He may have been a control freak, but at least the quality and consistency were there. I'm hoping that The Princess and the Frog will be Disney's return to form, but I'm trying not to get my hopes too high. Even if that film is great, there's no guarantee that the rest of their work will get any better.

Looks like disney will make new shows and shorts with some of marvels lesser known heroes for disney xd.

Will we get a iron fist, power pack, new warriors, or darkhawk cartoon?

I'd like to see them take another pass at a Silver Surfer show. I never had the pleasure of seeing the 90's show, but I heard it was good, although it ended on a cliffhanger.

Given the kerfuffle they'd raised over him back when the comic was created, I'd guess that Disney would be willing to base a show around any 'silly' Marvel character but Howard the Duck:

Forbush Man..? "No problem!"

Impossible Man..? "Why not?"

Squirrel Girl..? "Heck, yeah!"

Howard the Duck..? "Geddouttahere!!!"
