The state and future of animation

My sisters and mother like Happily N'Ever After for some reason, but I don't. Maybe because they have low standards? They also think that films like An American Tail and The Lion King are too depressing.

I'm just curious why the story is the most important part of an animated film. I've heard how films like Mars Needs Moms bombed hard despite having great CGI, and something cheap like Sausage Party makes a decent profit.

Is the story that important for an animated film? A lot of films have been successful only because of great visuals, like Avatar.

Do you all think that Bob's Burgers: The Movie will be a big deal for Disney? It'll be the first hand-drawn animated film from that studio since 2011's Winnie the Pooh.

I just didn’t understand why the *SLAP!* thing was in there. Seemed kinda over the line is all. Geffrey is sensitive so I just didn’t want him to feel hurt. Well anyway, I take back my last post.

It was purely meant in the Loretta Castorini "...Snap OUT of it!" sense, as Geffrey does tend to get stuck in his own repeating subroutine loops.

I only do that because I am an outsider to animation, and I have a yearning to learn more about how it works and what has happened in the industry, what's going on now, and what will possibly come.

I am also Autistic, so I view things differently from how others view it.

If DreamWorks Animation's Madagascar was never made, then would Disney's The Wild be a success, or still bomb?

The bigger question may be…would The Wild have even been made if Madagascar had never been made and been such a hit…!?
