So, little 8-yo. Juliet not only doesn't know a cassette player, she thinks Mighty Mouse is "cool"?
There's another bit of our generation's lore that has been lost...
Two more, and I'm probably going to wait at least a week as I search YouTube for more clip goodness!
First up, "Cheater" -- a SpikeTV promo...
Technically not YouTube but this one was too good to pass up mentioning...
For an advance look at Aardman Animation's interpretation of the DC Comics characters (Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, JLA, JSA, Teen Titans, Doom Patrol, etc.), go to this link => http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2 ... ion-short/
Click on the image of Superman below the first image to roll the video...
This is one of the shorts Aardman finished already.
First hand-drawn Popeye cartoon produced in nearly 25 years.
It's a music video for the band, Wilco.
I'll be honest...
I don't think it's very good.
The animation is very stiff. The Fleischer/Famous Studios shorts were animated much better than this and had a life to them that is absent from this video. The characters just look like the Popeye family.
It looks like a cheap Internet short.
I believe it was animated by a non-American animation studio.
There are any number of small, independent animation houses in North America that would have done a much better job with the animation... Somebody just didn't want to spend the $$$ for quality...
I just read about this the other day and was going to post about it here. Without even seeing it, from what I read you could tell it had been done on the cheap. Still, nice to see Popeye remembered...and hand-drawn to boot.
I can't see it yet from where I am, but am looking forward to it.
