VERY nice selection Vi (and I'm glad I can say yes to pretty much all of them!),

Thanks, I kept thinking of things I wanted to add! :)

60) You know what other film was the closest one to nearly being made at Disney's in the 1960s but was canned after Walt died.

Secert Of Nimh, right? I read somewhere that they tried to set that up at Disney but were shot down due to it being too dark a story. Only natural that that would be Bluth's first effort after the walkout. Ya know, just to show them it could be done.

Ben, does the project involve a rooster... and Elvis*?

*At least the Don Bluth version of it.

Rock a' Doodle? You're kidding! I thought that was a Don Bluth idea....well, there was a farm involved, so maybe it morphed into Home on the Range or something....

Actually, this does make sense, considering how (relatively) dated Elvis was the 90's in comparison to the 60's.

Yes, I think the project Ben is referring is Rock-A-Doodle, known as Chanticleer or Chanticleer and the Fox when Marc Davis worked on it at Disney. Of course, there are some pretty big differences between Davis' and Bluth's versions.

There's an interesting story behind why Chanticleer was never made by Disney. For a summary of it, look to The Animation Guild Blog or Jim Hill Media.

The latter site also introduced a three-part "saga" a couple of years ago, going into greater on Chanticleer's concept and rejection: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.
