But there are heroines who arn't princesses or Disney Princesses (Alice for exmaple).
Okay,Kida just got kidnapped and rescued (she's a damsel in distress).

I was only pointing out that Kida is literally a Disney 'Princess' character (and having a little fun with that Princess image); Ariel is still my favorite, and likely always will be.

I don't think it's so much the popularity/box office of Atlantis that keeps Kida out, as much as the fact that she doesn't easily fit the fairy-tale 'mold' of the primary Princess characters (as Ben pointed out). This is also why Mulan and even Pocahontas seem like awkward additions, to me.

Oh,Ariel is my favorite, too :D (with Giselle and maybe Aurora too).
Kida is a real princess but i don't think that she will be in the franchise.
Good point about the fairy tale thing,Pocahontas and Mulan allways get pushed while Snow White,Cinderella,Aurora,Ariel,Belle and Jasmine are everywhere.

Hence the suggestion of a "Heroines" type range, if the actually feel the need. I think box office/popularity plays a big part to be fair.

Otherwise, where is The Black Cauldron's Princess Eilonwy? ;)

The Princess line is allready a heroines line.
And yeah, the box office plays a big part (that's also why Giselle is a Princess).

Welcome to our boards SBA! :)

We do actually already have a thread similar to this, but I'll leave this open for now and see what reaction it gets.

Hm, these princess threads sure seem to be cropping up a lot latley, eh?

Anyway...The Disney princesses have never really overly impressed me as far as character design goes. They're kind of like the Barbies of the animation world.

I disagree, they're nothing like Barbie (and Barbie does appear in the animation world if you noticed).
