Books that are not based on any Disney movie yet

Post by danfrandes » August 25th, 2007, 8:50 am

Excuse me, but what is any book that is not based on any Disney movie yet?

Who don't you give me a list of some books that are bot based on any Disney movie?

Aesop's fable "The Lion and the Mouse", you know, isn't based on a Disney movie.

Is this a windup?

Disney movies are based on BOOKS and stories not the other way around.

"Alice In Wonderland", for instance, is NOT based on the Disney movie.

Reversing it, the only Disney movies that spring to mind as not being based on books, are Fantasia, though inspired by music, Lady And The Tramp, The Rescuers Down Under (though based on characters from a previous book), and The Lion King, though influenced by Hamlet. Also, I think Emperor's New Groove and Atlantis were original works, or at least derived from others and reconfigured as new, but I can't be sure.

@Lion King> Don't forget the pretty sizable (yet officially denied) homage to Kimba.

Is Emperor's New Groove really based off of anything? Lilo and Stitch? Aristocats? (*cough* why do I remember that one...?)

IIRC, Lilo & Stitch was an original idea by Chris Sanders.

By the way, welcome to the boards, cmoon! :)

Welcome!

And yes, you added perfectly good titles to my list. I remember that The AristoCats was based on an original concept by Ken Anderson, so yep, that's another one, and of course Lilo And Stich - can't believe I forgot that one.

I don't think that Emperor's New Groove was based on anything per se, though the original Kingdom Of The Sun was a Prince And The Pauper story, so there are elements of that left over. Yes, of course Lion King melded Kimba and Hamlet...good catch.

Home On The Range and Brother Bear were originals too, if I'm not mistaken.

Disney's Brother Bear was a spin-off from an incredible Danish film (animated) called "The Boy Who Wanted To Be a Bear".

Uncredited, though, right? ;)

That sounds pretty cool, though. :)

Yes, Unfortunately it remains uncredited...I was lucky enough to watch it in a film festival few years ago.

It is even available as a collector's edition dvd from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Boy-Who-Wanted-Be ... >amazon</a>

Very nice - just added it to my Wish List, and when it gets a bit of a price drop, I will certainly check this one out. Nice DVD edition too! Thanks for the head's up! :)

No probs, Ben :) Do check out...It has got some breathtaking visuals alongwith a haunting background score which I couldn't keep off my head for a long time after watching it.
