Coincidence? I think NOT! :)

Post by Uli » March 27th, 2006, 5:05 am

Hi, guys! Last week I finally got the chance to see Steven Spielberg's very first feature-length movie and... well, find the differences yourselves :)

"The Sugarland Express" was really SS's first movie.

"Duel" was an ABC movie of the week - actually Spielberg's third (or fourth) feature film - but did so well in ratings that it was later given theatrical distribution internationally.

However...I see your point - quite fun, though as with the recent claim that compared two Fiat cars, I don't think there's anything here that really screams "homage"...I mean a sports car is traditionally red, and a rusty tow-truck is gonna be brown.

I just don't get cars with teeth!?!? :)

I just don't get cars with teeth!?!?
And cars with eyes that look just like every other Pixar character's eyes?

I just don't get cars with teeth!?!?
My questions:

Do they eat?
Do they sleep?
Do they "run out of gas"?
Who changes their tires?
Have they ever had a person ride them, and how is that possible?
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

LOL, Christian!

Vi, the question as to who changes their tyres was answered in the first trailer...they have little car machine things that come up, whizz 'em off and replace them with shiny newly rendered wheels.

Bet they sleep under the stars, bet they run outta gas and we get some semi-funny "I need a drink" type lines. I don't think there are people in car world, which makes some of the building work impossible.

And what about cities? And land ownership? Are we going to see a battle (with millions of CG replicated automobiles) between different countries.

Would that be...don't make me say it... "Car Wars"?!!? ;)

Y'know, I thought of that when Cars was first announced and nearly made the association in my post above. Thanks for adding the point Meg. :)

It might be off the topic, but could anyone name any animation film that's totally logical? I mean there's no Ogre or mermaid in real world, and pengiuns obviously can't talk or sing.... So far I can only think of "Grave of the Fireflies".

The "Uncut" part was a joke. "South Park" had to be edited several times before it finally got an R rating.

Er, I just went off-topic, didn't I?

Wait, I was refering to the movie. Were you to?

Anyway...I think watching how cars go through their daily lives is part of the fun. Besides, this isn't the first time somebody said, "Hey! Let's make an animation about talking cars!"

They're not tires - they're shoes!
