Re: YouTube Goodness
I preferred the second movie over the first growing up because the evil book absolutely terrified me and I would usually stop watching the film once she showed up.

Re: YouTube Goodness
But she’s the best thing about it!
The second film was just an extended television episode, and very episodic at that, but the third ("Just call me Stan!") had some fun designs and things in it, though was a bit all over the place. I love Disney's Alice In Wonderland despite the flaws, but when people point out those flaws and what they don’t like about it, I’m kind of reminded of the Care Bears version and how nuts that one gets!
The evil book would be right at home as a villain in a Disney picture, which is why I probably like it, as it elevates the first film to something more than we were getting elsewhere at the time, with a concept, vocal and animation that’s "better" than something like a Care Bears movie might "deserve", if you get me. The fact she scared you as a kid means they succeed!
