Re: Manga & Anime THREAD
Well, I'm DISAPPOINTED Viz didn't flex their manga-marketing arm and get both series for dubbing, a la Sailor Moon Crystal/Classic.
But speaking as one with an entire shelf of fifty 4-ep. AnimEigo disks I'd like to condense into four boxsets, I'm...disappointed it wasn't four shelf-spacemaking SD-on-Blus, like Discotek's Kodocha, Samurai Pizza Cats and Sgt. Frog, but at this point, I don't care:
All we asked was hostage negotiation to finally free UY from the curse of AnimEigo after twenty years in exile, and we got it.
And just as we OG fans were stoking new '22-remake fans with 80s-series clips on YouTube.

Yeah, and I discovered REAL anime early on in college, so I never had to hook myself up to the mainstream IV umbilical-cords of Bleach, Naruto, or One Piece serials on Cartoon Network in the 00s....I don't know what I'm missing!

I've got into One Piece since Toonami started airing it again, I'd like to see it in full eventually. I didn't think that crossover episode was anything special though?
Silly, I know, but I only learned the other day that the Demon Slayer manga is finished. I guess I'm so used to anime going as long as Naruto, DBZ, One Piece, etc. that to find out it's only 23 volumes was very surprising. I might make it more of a priority to get the manga now I know it's not ongoing.

Re: Manga & Anime THREAD
Yay yay!
The 1971 Toei anime feature film Animal Treasure Island -- long 'out-of-print' on DVD -- is being rereleased by Diskotek Media on DVD and Blu-ray, on July 23rd!
. .
This movie is mostly known as an early showcase for Hayao Miyazaki (as a key animator and scene planner .. he hadn't quite made 'director' status yet, at this stage of his career) .. yet it's a charming film, entirely enjoyable on its own merits .. with cartoon slapstick galore and appealing characters by the bucketful, throughout.
I'd linked the (subtitled) trailer a couple pages back in this very thread, for anyone who's interested.
The upcoming DVD and Blu-ray will contain both the original japanese dialogue and the vintage 'Fred Ladd-produced' english dub track. No word on the english-language main/end titles, though (the previous Diskotek DVD release did not include those).
This has my highest recommendation for any Miyazaki (or indeed, any anime) fan.

I had nearly gotten the OOP DVD, so I am glad I waited. It figured a Blu would be out eventually.
