Book on Ross Bagdasarian Sr.-The Alvin Show

Post by Marshfish » May 28th, 2019, 2:12 pm

Hello all,

Thanks for letting me join the site. There’s a new book on Ross Bagdasarian Sr. (aka David Seville), creator of Alvin and the Chipmunks, which includes info on The Alvin Show. That’s the program that had inventor Clyde Crashcup and his assistant Leonardo in a cartoon among the Chipmunks segments.

I just wrote a review of the book. Here’s the link to the article:

Thanks,

Welcome!

Very nice review. Sounds like the book is a fun nostalgic trip. Watching those clips sure do take me back. I had a VHS and cassette of those sing-along compilations. They would get played a lot! :)

Daniel,

Thanks so much for your reply and kind comments. That made a lot of sense to have those Alvin Show sing-along VHS tapes and audio cassettes released in the 1990's. I'd like to see a complete edition of all 26 of those Alvin Show episodes on Blu-ray, DVD, and/or streaming one of these days.

All the best,
Marshall

You and me both! The bare-bones combo they released a few years back just doesn't cut it. Felt like such a tease. ;)

Great review! The book was more than I expected. It took me back to a happier time. I learned a lot of history about the TV show and the characters that I did not know before. It was a good read!

I haven't read this book yet, but I plan to buy it, I've read many positive reviews about this book, so I decided to order it. I watched the films made in this book, and I really liked it. I searched on several platforms for a reasonable price for this book, and I found it relatively cheap on yourcoursetextbook.com. I haven't read many books on this topic, so I decided to develop this field for myself. I usually read dramatic or fantasy novels, which is why I chose this book. Maybe someone else knows some books on the subject, and I don't mind giving me some book names.

Alvin is up for sale!

$300M. That's a lot of peanuts.

Not that bad of a deal all things considered. They're cultural icons and the recent films made serious bank. With a TV series, the possibility of more movies/reboot, toys, DVD sets, music etc. In the right hands they could easily get that money back and then some.
