John K Blog
John K. (creator of Ren & Stimpy) has this really great blog made for people who have a love for old
cartoons, spumco, and for people who aspire to be animators themselves
http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/
This is a site I visit daily, and it has helped me a lot in my quest to be an animator

Yeah I know, I don't always agree with him as well.
But that's John K for ya. It his way or the highway.
He has this weird vision that every animation should be cartoony.
Still, At what he does he's one of the best.
and if you're interested in old cartoons as I am he's a great tuter.
Just don't let him know you like Modern animation as well or he'll kill ya!!

Jeffrey K is basically the complete opposite (well to an extent)
Supposadly he warmed up to some cartoony stuff in the last few years, but in general he prefers more reality-based stuff. (See Sinbad, El Dorado, Prince of Egypt, Pocahontas)
OMG, if him and John K ever met, they'd probably kill each other within ten minutes!!!!

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Speaking of John K's work for Raketu, I want to send out a reminder that Animated Views now has a brief interview with Greg Parker, CEO and Founder of Raketu Communications Inc.

What do you think of John K's stuff?
He's the Ren & Stimpy guy. He has a whole blog and everything:

Some pics may be NSFW.
He has some very strong opinions, and also dishes out quite a lot of lessons on cartoon-drawing/animating.
Love him or hate him?

John K's stuff has never impressed me, and I strongly disagree with his assertion (paraphrasing here) that if you can't draw, you have no business writing for animation. I couldn't draw well if my life depended on it, but I like to think I'm a good writer. Who is this bozo to tell me I can't do it? He seems to me to be thoroughly full of himself and consequently, I don't take anything he says seriously.

Yeah,
this topic has been talked to death here before.
I'll repeat my main theme about John K and Spumco in general -- the sheer arrogance and ability of these people to continually shoot themselves in their feet knows no bounds. Spumco and John K should NOT be role models for people who want to be involved in animation. Duplicating that behavior and attitude will not win you friends and allies.
(I'm not speaking of John K's breadth of knowledge or even his teaching ability, BTW... What rubs me raw is the attitude is that "his way is the only way" and that if you're not on board with his POV all the way then your point of view doesn't count. Obviously, his great resume past Ren & Stimpy means he's ever been so successful with that attitude!
)
The amount of sheer cultism and sycophancy surrounding Ren & Stimpy just boggles the mind. The show wasn't that good or groundbreaking. Heck, looking at it years later in DVD sets it sure hasn't aged well. There were definitely better shows that came out of 1990s that have aged better and far more prolific show-runners than John K.
