For the second-straight year, Disney films grossed $4 billion world-wide at the box-office. They are attributing this year's success to the Marvel films (Guardians of the Galaxy grossed $770 million, Captain America: The Winter Solder grossed $714.7 million) and female-driven fairy tales (Maleficent grossed $758 million and $733 million of Frozen's $1.3 billion occurred this year).
The article notes that Disney reached the mark two weeks faster than last year, which had Iron Man 3 ($1.2 billion), Monsters University ($743.6 million), and nearly $600 million of Frozen's $1.3 billion.
