Because they’re obviously typical British characters in the Dahl villain mold that live in a typical suburban British street in a book written by a British person, primarily for a British readership, before it got discovered by readers around the world who just liked the Britishness of it all?

Or has there been some kind of secret confirmation as to what Rowling was going for, hinting toward, or outright digging at or lampooning that I’ve missed? Go on…enlighten me…?

No "secret conspiracy", more just like the French and Jerry Lewis.
Give a British fantasy author enough rope, and sooner or later they're going to do their own homage to the Twits.

…then.

Yeah, referring back to my point, you don’t know (m)any Brits then… ;)

Annnnnnnd now they are scrubbing Bond books, too.

You know. Because so many impressionable children read those.

A collection of public domain Seuss stories from Redbook is available now in book form (also can be seen online at the Seuss website).
