Re: Oscar Chat 2021
Not sure if I'll be able to make it this year, but I'll try to.

Re: The Willoughbys
I was able to view an early screening of the film and I think this review does it justice in recognizing its contradictions. That is to say, I do love the movie and how it never went the direction I thought it was going to go. It never seemed formulaic nor tired.

Re: 2014 Oscar Talk
The biggest disappointing snubs to me were "Monsters University" for Best Animated Feature. That was the one of the better displays of artistic appreciation the Academy displayed this year; let Pixar be nominated when it actually deserves it, and whether they do has been a more debatable topic sinc...

The biggest disappointing snubs to me were "Monsters University" for Best Animated Feature and Emma Thompson for Best Actress for "Saving Mr. Banks".

Walt Before Mickey?
Anybody know anything about this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3154310/?ref_=nm_flmg_wr_1 Apparently, a film is being made based on the book, "Walt Before Mickey" and it doesn't seem to be a documentary, but rather an actual dramatic film. This film seems to be about Walt's early career. I can just f...

Re: Asterix: The land of gods
I've always been a fan of the "Asterix" books and still have to read "Asterix and the Picts". But I've seen a few of the "Asterix" films, so this one seems interesting as well.

Re: Saving Mr Banks
I too am quite disappointed with Tom Hanks' portrayal of Walt Disney. The voice just isn't right, nor does he seem to capture the warmth that Walt had. Hopefully, my feelings will change after I watch the movie. Emma Thompson seems to give an amazing performance as P.L. Travers and I quite, surprisi...

Re: Big Hero 6
I too am not satisfied that this film will be part of the Disney Canon. To me, it feels like if Disney would make an animated "Star Wars" movie and be part of the Canon. It just doesn't seem authentic. Oh well, what can we do?
