Re: documentary

I saw a preview of the Poppins musical.

And it is s**t. Really. P**s poor. And it takes me a lot to get rilled up like that.

George... In the review I state that, yes, the CONTENT is the main thing, and here the set delivers. My main gripe - and with a specific COLLECTORS line like this it is ENTIRELY appropriate - is that the series is not consistent in appearance. Put the new ones up on your shelf and tell me which is P...

Walt Disney Treasures

You may have seen our recent news item up about the "cut backs" in the new wave: http://www.animated-news.com/archives/00002761.html To recap: No wraparound (meaning no title on the side. Great ) Certificates SIGNED BY LEONARD MALTIN ONLY. Roy Disney's name has been complete removed from any packagi...

I actually made a point of not saying "box", since I knew that would be taken the wrong way.

I said "block" (which could be any shape). :)

Was just about to post that! That's the one I was meaning in my comment above, though I got the "tree branches" a little wrong! Rand...one of my pet peeves about the Platinum line is how they've adopted this "title in a big (usually black) block in the middle of the image" thing. I agree that it bre...

Cover art looks much better, but I still prefer the alternate versions that were going around (with the Bambi lettering a lot more how we remember it, and encased in a couple of interlocking "tree branches"). The trailer took ages to download, and I had some trouble with it for some reason, but the ...

Welcome to the new boards. Sorry, but I have just as much trohble with you when opening DVD ROM material. I've found that, when it works, InterActual Player is probably the one that works best, but usually when I try to watch the movie through it, the whole thing dies on me. Actually, I wasn't aware...

But "Will The Sun Ever Shine..." wasn't the big "pop song" in the film. Surely, with two versons on the soundtrack and a music video/single release, it was the "Anytime You Need A Friend" track that was the "breakout" theme from Home On The Range. Personally, I'm glad to see that it's NOT this song ...

And the buildings are wonked.

Looks like really cool 1960s animation done in CG.

If anything it's a step forwards in that it's one more barrier that CG has crossed in being able to mimic the 2D look even better than before.

Yep! I've stayed away from this release myself. Don't want to think about it. Same with the Harry Potter films, which feature frankly rubbish SFX, and the argument is "It's for kids". Well, yes, it's AIMED at kids, but as far as I was aware, the Potter franchise is a bunch of $100m+ budgeted motion ...

That played in realtime on my connection. Really cool, and very funny. Reminded me of the South Park anime episode. I didn't mind the Popeye animation - it looked pretty good to me considering how it's done, but was more put of by his voice. Was close, but not as close as other impersonations I've h...
