Re: WB Archive Collection: Discs On Demand!

I found a pleasant surprise while poking around on Amazon, this evening: The New Fred & Barney Show: The Complete Series from Warner Archive .. coming January 27th..! :) This is a 2-disc Blu-ray set, with 17 episodes; presumably, the 'Schmoo' and 'Thing' segments (from F&B Meet the Schmoo and F&B Me...

Re: Manga & Anime THREAD

AFAIK .. the Mei and the KittenBus 'sequel short' has never been screened outside the Studio Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan. and -- at least according to the above news article -- the upcoming screenings of this short will be limited to a newer Studio Ghibli theme park .. in Nagakute, Japan .. durin...

Re: Comic Book Discussion

I have the first volume of the DC Finest Crisis on Infinite Earths which was recently published -- it contains the first four issues of Crisis , interspersed with the various Crisis 'crossover' issues that coincided with them, so that they can be read as (something resembling) a continuous storyline...

Re: Zootopia

I saw Zootopia 2 this morning; (an early preview screening). This is a very enjoyable and worthwhile sequel! It preserves the 'feel' of the original, while also treading entirely new ground and building upon its very interesting world. The new characters are fantastic fun .. and there are (logical a...

Wannabe_2025-05-19.png :P  Wannabe by Luca DeBus just started running on Comics Kingdom, last week .. but there's a backlog of over a years' worth of strips posted there (though, one may need to be a paid CK subscriber to read back that far). The strip -- dealing with three young college g...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Lackadaisy season 1 remains "in production" .. but indications are that it may be ready to start streaming soon..! Here's a music video titled "Last Call" which shows off the Lacakadaisy speakeasy in one of its brighter moments. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHq4ppmUPsA followed by a progress ...

Re: comic strips discussion

From what I've been able to observe, Archie is still publishing digests .. they're just no longer being distributed to newsstand vendors (supermarkets, drugstores, etc). Which is definitely a huge departure, for them! But current issues of Archie digests -- there are a couple of Halloween digests pu...

Re: Manga & Anime THREAD

The lushly artistic 1985 film Angel's Egg -- directed by Mamoru Oshii -- has gotten a 4K remaster. GKIDS will screen the movie in theaters on November 19th .. presumably to be followed by a 4K / Blu-ray release, early next year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X9LM3aTiyY The girl's hair in this mov...

40 out of 45 Peanuts TV specials in one boxed set is pretty darn great.

and even having this 'missing' special available to view on YouTube still counts as a 'win' IMO .. (but only while it's still there, of course).

Re: YouTube Goodness

Yeah… that's [trimming the runtime of The Wizard of Oz from 102 minutes to 75 minutes] actually a deal breaker. What’s the point in that? Kind of feels like they converted a film, but couldn’t "afford" to do the whole thing. Ironic if they cut out Over The Rainbow…! ;) Apparently, it's a 'Las Vegas...

Re: YouTube Goodness

I was a bit disappointed this evening to learn that the MSG Sphere presentation of The Wizard of Oz has been trimmed down to 75 minutes (versus the original film's 102 minutes) runtime. That definitely wasn't mentioned at all in CBS News Sunday Morning 's story. :| This information makes their ticke...

The Henson studio has partnered with General Mills for this year's 'Monsters Cereal' ad campaign. Here's a first look .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce2cp4JGnI8 The characters' designs mesh so well with the Muppet aesthetic, that it's amazing no one had thought of doing this before. :o It'd be n...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Very interesting use of AI image enhancement and image expansion to transform The Wizard of Oz into a 16K wraparound experience for the 'MSG Sphere' venue. :o

I'm definitely tempted to wander over to Las Vegas in a month or so, after it opens.

Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe

The movie is fantastic .. everything I wanted it to be. :D and the inaugaral El Capitan screening I'd attended was introduced by Kevin Feige, live on stage .. :o .. along with composer Michael Giacchino, and the director, producer, and costume designer for the film; Disney must've just flown 'em all...
