I saw "screenwriting is not writing," not "screenwriting is not storytelling." They'd kinda be undermining themselves if they were claiming that . And if they are highlighting the difference between how you handle writing for a book and writing for a film, I agree. You don't have the benefit of usin...

*raises hand* I would probably prefer self-referential jokes in DW movies to pop culture ones. IMHO, the former age better. :P And I don't understand why it has to be DW vs. Pixar. I personally like both and think it's useless to compare them, as they're different. Cars was entertaining for me, but ...

I can see your points, ShyVi, as they are legitimate ones. The weird thing about my response to Cars is I can see that it's not a terribly deep movie. I can see that the plot isn't very complicated or even original. I can see that the execution doesn't do it for some people, and I can even see why. ...

I'm having a little trouble with your logic on the whole "small town" idea. So, what you're saying is people should only make movies that most people can identify with? Nobody should offer their unique view, even if the downside is that it alienates people who don't feel the same way? If I feel stro...

I dunno, I like the main theme that runs throughout the Cars score. Unfortunately, it's really the only theme that's repeated. Oh well... at least I like it. And there's a seriously impressive trumpet run in "The Piston Cup" along with a section that makes me spontaneously air-conduct. :D As for the...

I love how they act like the Turtle comics came about after/because of the movie. Those were the Archie TMNT comics. A fun series in itself, but not the originals. But they're right, you can pick up TMNT comics for about $1-3 dollars, not that much at all (and I refer to the real pre-cartoon Mirage ...

I think I had about the same initial impression - "Oh geez, MORE animated penguins." But at least the trailer did its job, because it handled things in an interesting way. Don't know yet if I'll want to see it in theaters, but it's probably more likely than me seeing Happy Feet. And that water is be...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, circa 2007: http://www.themovieinsider.com/ps2505-untitled-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-project-movie-poster.html To be fair, that's an early version - the newer ones look way better. EXACTLY. That image wasn't supposed to be leaked, because it's terrible quality and n...

That was pretty much the only thing worrying me about the release - going head-to-head against Meet the Robinsons. And... not only do I not have to worry about that, but I get to see this a whole week sooner. 8)

Oh. I was just referring to the part of his post where Scar's small appearance in TLK2 was Cummings. It wouldn't surprise me.... it wasn't a bad sequel, but I wouldn't expect Jeremy Irons to return for it. ;)

It was part Irons, part Cummings. I think Cummings' voice enters the song right after Scar says, "You won't get a sniff without me." For the record, Cummings was also the voice of Scar in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride . Yes, I remember reading that Irons' voice crapped out during the recording, s...

That's true - I only heard of it a month or less ago. And I didn't even know it was a Christopher Reeve thing. They really needed to plug that aspect more.

Even as a kid I could tell Powhatan's singing voice was not the same guy as his speaking voice. He did a better job filling in for Jeremy Irons in "Be Prepared."

This sounds like it's at least worth a borrow from the library.

Y'know... those don't look bad at all. Definitely captures the style. I'm really interested now to see what they look like in motion.

...though for some reason I'm having a hard time seeing Jim Carrey as Horton. I hope he doesn't overdo it (wait, what am I saying...?)
