Re: DreamWorks Abominable
Of all the DreamWorks releases from the past decade or so, only the first Dragon film and Rise of the Guardians stand out to me as exceptional - although Captain Underpants is far better than I ever would have predicted, and there are a handful of films by the studio that I still need to catch up on...

Re: DreamWorks Abominable
Haven't been active here in quite awhile, but I still stop in from time to time and enjoy reading what others have posted...I'm kinda shocked that a major DreamWorks release could come and go with barely any discussion about it on the forums here. I streamed Abominable a few weeks ago and was looki...

Re: DISNEY BUYS 20TH CENTURY FOX
So...does this mean that we'll be seeing Anastasia at Epcot and Scrat at Animal Kingdom? Kinda kidding, but in all seriousness - why not? If Disney is going to own a whole bunch of new animated characters, it will be interesting to see how far they go towards integrating them into the Disney pantheo...

Re: Zootopia
They could be brothers (or cousins for that matter). I've considered that as a possibility. The film certainly doesn't make it clear what the exact nature of their relationship is, but one does have to question why the directors would bother giving the characters a hyphenated last name, if it wasn't...

Re: Zootopia
Er..."voodoo curse"?? :? Took it to be more of the "New lethal superdrug, about to be let out on the streets by the city's ultimate menacing invincible druglord" (note the Breaking Bad parody, which I don't even watch, but had pointed out for me by critics) plot that was the staple of 80's Lethal W...

Re: Zootopia
Well, I'm late to the discussion again, as has been usual. I'm glad to see though, that I'm not the only one who was underwhelmed. Despite mostly avoiding this thread until now, and so only having the ridiculously high Rotten Tomatoes score as an indication of the film's quality, I went in with pret...

Re: Peanuts
Well...I would be disappointed that this didn't get an Oscar nomination, but after last year's fiasco, it's pretty hard for me to take the Academy's choices seriously anymore. I only just now got to seeing this and am very impressed - all the more so for it coming from Blue Sky. I'd like to think th...

Re: Inside Out
The scene that Dacey brought up is a very emotional one, and Bing Bong's character did admittedly surprise me in a couple of ways. But all the same, I agree with Ben that there was a certain air of predictability about that moment. What really surprised me about Bing Bong were the things that didn't...

Thanks Vi! I had actually meant to write June; not July. Things have been a fair bit better the past few weeks.

Re: Inside Out
Jpcase backed up what I've said all along. Your reaction to this film will depend on what you bring to it, as well as your background--- your age, experiences, and how much you know of neuropsychology. Well, I'm not sure that any potential lack of knowledge on my part, regarding neuropyschology, pl...

Re: Inside Out
Glad to see that I'm not the only one who has mixed feelings on this. It was certainly quite good and leagues better than Cars 2 , Brave , or your run-of-the-mill DreamWorks/Blue Sky/Illumination fare. But one of Pixar's greatest? Best Picture worthy? I'm afraid that I can't see it. Honestly, I can'...

Re: Christopher Lee dies at 93
Very shocked and sad when I saw this. The Wicker Man is the only one of his classic horror films that I've seen, but as someone who was in elementary school during the early/mid 2000s, Lee played pivotal roles in some of the biggest film events of my childhood. The LotR trilogy remains my all time f...

Re: Now FANTASIA going live-action, TANGLED comes to TV
Well, the Genie got his arm cuffs back in the Aladdin sequels and TV show, so it's not like this would be the first time that Disney has reneged upon a design change. A short film is one thing, but it would kind of surprise me if the TV show doesn't give Rapunzel her original look back. Better for m...
