Re: New Scooby Doo movie defines being size 8 as a "curse"
My ONLY problem with the movie Tangled is Gothel accusing Rapunzel of being chubby. As an adult, I get it. But to a child....they really shouldn't be given the impression that someone who looks like Rapunzel is even remotely overweight. I agree Dacey...kids just don't have the cognitive tools to di...

Re: Official Star Wars Thread
I was lucky enough to come across a fan made DVD of Star Wars (I will not call it "A New Hope") that's a transfer/preservation of a 1977 film print (presumably from someone's private collection) and doesn't even have the minor fixes applied for the 1978 rerelease. You can't get any more "original" t...

RIP Robin Williams 1951-2014
Robin Williams, famed comedian and actor, has passed away. He was found dead in his home and the initial investigation suggests he may have committed suicide. He had reportedly been suffering from severe depression. He leaves behind an immense body of work including an unforgettable and inimitable p...

Re: Man of Steel (2013)
I read something about WB wanting to do six or seven DC Comics films (including Justice League) in the next three years to try and get their "Cinematic Universe" started quickly. Personally, I think that would be a very bad idea. The concept worked when Marvel did it because they built things up slo...

Re: Into the Woods
I really hope this isn't another Maleficent. Maleficent was horrible. Thankfully, it wasn't an earth-shattering ginormous hit so we may be lucky enough not to see any more like it.

Probably not safe for work (due to brief strong language), but this is pretty funny:

Re: Broadway Musicals
I've had some pretty nifty "stage door" experiences myself over the years. When I saw Jesus Christ Superstar, I was able to meet Sebastian Bach (the lead singer of Skid Row who did an AWESOME job as Jesus) and Carl Anderson (who was the original Judas on Broadway and in the film version and reprised...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
They won't. Not for the foreseeable future. anyway. Fox has a "use it or lose it" deal with Marvel, so I imagine they'll keep making X-Men films as long as it's financially viable to do so just to keep the rights from going back to Marvel. Of course, Marvel could always buy the rights back, but they...

Re: Disney's Frozen
http://variety.com/2014/film/awards/frozens-jennifer-lee-melts-ceilings-1201216961/ It's official, they're not doing a sequel. This plus Disney allowing something back in Into The Woods that had initially been cut gives me hope that maybe, just maybe, the execs have come to their senses. It's just a...

Re: Into the Woods
Before now, my main concern was that the powerful, moving second act wouldn't be there at all due to how grim(m) it is compared to the much more Disney-like act one. Even if Disney did chicken out by removing a couple of things, if the second act is there, that's a good thing. However, considering h...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
I honestly don't see where the problem is. The first Kick Ass is one of my all time favorite movies and I thought the second one was just as good. Since it was apparently planned as a trilogy from the start, I'm really hoping they'll be able to do the last one and finish it off in style.

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Even I, with my "insider knowledge" of what Singer got up to on the set of Valkerie... Don't believe the hype, Ben. Singer's lawyer presented evidence proving that neither he nor the accuser were in Hawaii at the time he was claiming they were. Cased closed, right? Sadly, no. Less than a month late...

Re: Disney's Frozen
If you know it's bad but you like it anyway, there's nothing wrong with that. There are plenty of bad movies I like. Now that I've seen Maleficent, Frozen doesn't seem that bad in retrospect (although it's far from what I would classify as good). Maleficent was horrible.

Re: The Book of Life
It looks awesome to me. If nothing else, it should end up with at least a small but devoted cult audience like ParaNorman did (now THERE'S a film that deserves more attention).
