Re: Disney's Frozen
And yet, The Lego Movie is a much better film despite not making anywhere near as much. There's no accounting for taste, I guess.

Re: X-Men: First Class
Not to mention coming straight off the celebrity heels of Kevin Clash's "indiscretion" that took Elmo off of Sesame Street. That's not really a fair comparison, though. In Kevin Clash's case, the relationship was completely consensual and the other guy was over the age of consent, so it wasn't even...

Re: X-Men: First Class
All i'll say is, it doesn't matter if he's guilty or not. Even if he's completely innocent (and he may very well be), and even if he's completely exonerated (which is entirely possible), the fact that he's openly gay means that a lot of people will assume he's guilty and he'll probably never work in...

Re: X-Men: First Class
DOFP looks really cool and I can't wait to see it, but I have to say the chronology of these films is completely screwed now. Stay with me for a second: Based on the inclusion of certain plot elements, The Wolverine is explicitly a followup to The Last Stand and, based on the post-credits teaser, DO...

Re: Disney's Frozen
What I really like about Sofia is that the morals are there, but they're done in such a way that it feels natural and not forced, at least most of the time, which is a hard trick to pull off in a show marketed to young children. Also, because it has that nostalgic charm (I've heard it compared to th...

Re: Disney's Frozen
My big concern is that when Big Hero 6 comes out and inevitably does nowhere near as much business (although it'll probably still do well), the execs will force the animators to make more movies like this whether they want to or not in a misguided attempt to catch lightning in a bottle twice. The sa...

Re: New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie
I've always been a huge fan of the TMNT franchise as a whole and I can honestly say I don't care about the new look. It doesn't bother me at all and if people are going to use that as their sole reason for not seeing this then that is, quite frankly, stupid. For fans of the franchise, whether or not...

Re: Live Action Yamato On The Way!
I'm still waiting for an official US release of the Phoenix Wright and Animal Crossing movies. I've watched unofficial subtitled versions, but it would be nice to have them on the shelf with my other movies. The games are decently popular here, so I do wonder what's taking so long.

Re: Muppets Most Wanted
Just got back from seeing this. It was a lot different than I was expecting, but that's not a bad thing at all. Whereas the last film focused more on broad, zany comedy and the actual story was somewhat secondary, here, comedy takes a backseat and the story is front and center. What comedy is there ...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies
The worst part is, whenever I try and argue that comics ought to be at least somewhat kid-friendly, I get dozens of fanboys swooping in to tell me that comics aren't for kids and shouldn't cater to them. Head, meet wall.

Re: DreamWorks' "Home"
Nice! DreamWorks has always been hit or miss even at the best of times due to spending less time on each film and going for volume instead, but this one looks like a winner to me. I like the end credits theme. Hopefully they'll flesh it out a bit and use it in the feature.

Re: Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
The original film quickly became one of my favorites, so I've been waiting for this a long time. Robert Rodriguez almost always does excellent work, so this should be no exception. I hope.

Re: Disney Renaissance 2/Disney Revival
I'm not bitter about Frozen being successful (although I really don't understand why everyone went so nuts for it) as much as I'm concerned that Disney will take all the wrong ideas away from its success, much like DreamWorks post-Shrek. Shrek 1 came out and was a surprise smash hit. Then, Shrek 2 c...

Re: Disney Renaissance 2/Disney Revival
Unfortunately, yes. Continuing the earlier discussion, if I had to compare Frozen to something, I'd compare it to Brother Bear. Lilo And Stitch came out and was so phenomenally good, that Brother Bear just felt flat by comparison and was an extremely disappointing followup to such a great predecesso...
