Re: comic strips discussion

I love it when "obscure" titles start showing up in what used to be called syndicated packages for television because, nowadays, it’s more than likely a sudden interest in making these titles more visible leads to an eventual disc release. Often new mixes of old soundtracks are made because a film i...

Re: comic strips discussion

Gaastra…not saying the YT tape rip supplants a Blu…the link was provided so that Rand could at least see it! After doing so, anyone might find they don’t actually need a Blu of everything …a turd is still a turd after all, even in HD (when it becomes a very nice looking turd…but still a turd)! Yeah,...

Re: comic strips discussion

"Here ya go!" (as she keeps saying in the special), in all its smeary mid-80s NTSC glory… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ndys1VvdLII Roger Rabbit has a lot to answer for! The performances are terrible — I have no recollection of Jill Schulz in Newhart, but nepotism plays a huge part here — and I fo...

Still impressive CG after thirty years. There’s a full-of-tat 4K edition coming out in the UK as well!

Re: YouTube Goodness

Yeah, I get the trimming of a show for that location and reasons, which isn’t too unnatural for a "theme park" type version, but the point of this kind of felt like to see "the movie" in a whole new way. And that movie is 102 minutes! Obviously interesting to see how they cut it down and what they l...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Yeah…that’s actually a deal breaker. What’s the point in that? Kind of feels like they converted a film, but couldn’t "afford" to do the whole thing.

Ironic if they cut out Over The Rainbow…! ;)

Obviously rooted on Jeff Bridges…ironically? ;)

Yeah, that’s painful, the most inexcusable thing being the wildly varying sound levels and quality!

Re: YouTube Goodness

This is awesomely scary awesome tech. They’re talking about doing an Elstree Studios history type thing as a touristy spot here in a similar fashion, so it’s very interesting to see something that’s already using that medium. Veeeeeery interesting!

Re: Nick confirms three more theatre animated films!

Well, it *is* a European franchise to begin with, so I guess there’s the built-in nostalgia as well, where the brand and Peyo is till very much revered. And of course video and streaming these films do extremely well on, so it should have some little blue legs yet. :)

Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe

I must say I do have high hopes for this, and for it to reset the MCU after the last phase of pretty ropey titles. Glad to hear it sounds fun.

Well, that just happened! ;)

Heavy shades of Family Dog in there, too, which also has the Elfman connection of course. Definitely the vibe of Burton/Bird run through the John K blender…!
