Re: Blue Sky's Rio

Well, I finally got around to my Rio matinee. At the expense of some work I could have been doing, but hey. In a word, I have to say that I was underwhelmed. Because I had read the rottentomatoes blurbs and seen other peoples' comments here and on iMDB, I didn't go in expecting anything really creat...

I took a glance at the review, but didn't read the whole thing--it seemed a bit spoiler-ific. I think if all the early press is this positive, Kung Fu Panda 2 will turn into a must see for me.

Re: A Cat in Paris

Well, I was wondering when, if ever, this movie would come to the States, and we sort of have an answer now: after screening it at the New York International Children's Film Festival, GKIDS has decided to distribute the film in theaters some time this year. I'm even more interested in seeing this fi...

Re: Re:

Ah, it all makes sense now! But, as for the original topic, I know for a fact that I will be seeing Cars 2 in theaters, even in the event that the critics dump on it. I have seen every Pixar film in theaters so far, and I don't want to break that streak. I liked the original Cars, though it'...

Re: Cartoon Brew preview of 2011 animated films

Yeah, I'll probably make it a matinee. Maybe I can drag my mates along with me. :)

Re: Cartoon Brew preview of 2011 animated films

Well, the news is looking good for Rio so far; eight reviews on RT and all of them positive. The gist of what they're saying at this point is that it's fun, but a very "safe" film with nothing really new or groundbreaking. I wasn't really that interested in the movie from the trailers, but maybe I'l...

Re: Cartoon Brew preview of 2011 animated films

As for "Hop," after seeing the most recent trailer, I'm thinking it's looking surprisingly good. The characters look very "animated," despite being in a live-action film. The bunnies and chicks are cute, as opposed to "real" like so many other CGI characters tend to be in these things. I'm still no...

Re: Cartoon Brew preview of 2011 animated films

Yellow Submarine has been 'sunk' .. at Disney, at least. Apparently, Robert Zemeckis is free to pitch the movie to other studios .. but, after MNM 's disappointing opening weekend, that could be a 'hard sell'. :| I don't mean to sound cynical, but this news has significantly brightened my day. I'm ...

Wow, I LOVE the customized DVD covers! Nothing beats those vintage poster designs, and I definitely prefer them to the covers that Disney has been putting out lately. The figures on the DVD and Blu-Ray covers are so air-brushed, smooth, and "glowy" that they sort of cease to look like the characters...

Re: The Disney Vault and You

Thank you all for the detailed responses! I suppose if I'm going to do this thing right, I may as well give my own answers, because it looks like, judging what you guys and the iMDB posters have said, my collecting practices are actually an anomaly. -I do consider myself a collector, not just of Dis...

Re: The Disney Vault and You

Well, I guess these questions are hyper-specific enough to be focus-group-y, but these are things I am quite interested in. Since the Disney vault has been complicating the way I buy DVDs for so long, I was just hoping to get some insight as to how it affects other people, and I couldn't think of an...

The Disney Vault and You

Hello, denizens of Animated Views! This is my first-ever post here, but I have been lurking on this forum for quite some time, so I feel that I already know some of you a bit. Thus, greetings all around. :D Anyway, I was motivated to make this post because I recently started a thread on iMDB's anima...
