Re: The John Lasseter saga
Just jumping in to say that I am really really uncomfortable with Lasseter getting this gig. A person who behaved like he did getting put back into a position of leadership right after all of his disgusting behavior was publicly revealed is just appalling to me. Really hoping the outcry from Skydanc...

Re: Criterion Collection
I somehow don't have any Criterion Collection Blu-Rays (I just rent 'em from my college library!) so I'd be like a pig in slop getting to choose whatever I want from here!

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
X-Men: Apocalypse was such a dud, my word. Worst of all, it wasted Oscar Isaac, one of our best modern-day dramatic actors, on dismal make-up work and a lousily written villain.

Re: Criterion Collection
Great choices Lee, especially on Bicycle Thieves!
Oh what I wouldn't give to go into that Criterion closet one day....

Re: Ant-Man
The trailer for Ant-Man And The Wasp is out and it looks like a heck of a lot of fun! Love that they're embracing the more outlandish aspects of this character in order to do fun shrinking/growing moments!

Lady Bird
Lady Bird just became the biggest movie ever at the domestic box office for indie movie studio A24 and rightfully so, its easily my favorite movie of the year (tied with Get Out). What a riveting motion picture overflowing with excellent dialogue and phenomenal performances! [youtube]https://youtu.b...

Re: DISNEY BUYS 20TH CENTURY FOX
20th Century Fox, Fox 2000 and Fox Searchlight will be continuing on as existing labels at Disney (Fox 2000 projects, like their past films like Hidden Figures, will be released through 20th Century Fox). Looks like 20th Century Fox will be the new Touchstone Pictures, doing 12-14 adult skewing movi...

Re: Official Star Wars Thread
I have to say that I love how they are casting these films. "Diversity" may be an eye-rolling swear word for some, but I love how films like this and Spidey: Homecoming are being made to reflect the audience. Even as a white male, I love how much more "real" and relatable it makes the events seem. ...

Re: 2017 Best Animated Feature
I'm predicting Coco is the only explicitly American animated feature to get nominated in this category this year. Loving Vincent and The Breadwinner will also get nominated, and then two more GKIDS films (I'm thinking Ethel & Ernest and The Girl Without Hands) make it in. But hey, prove me wrong Fer...

DISNEY BUYS 20TH CENTURY FOX
Shocked we don't have a thread up for this yet, but yeah, Disney just bought 20th Century Fox folks! The studio behind films as wide and varied as Sunrise: A Song Of Two Humans, Die Hard, Bride Wars, Avatar and The Revenant now belongs to Disney as well as every other entertainment entity from News ...

Re: Official Star Wars Thread
At the risk of sounding like some sort of fanboy (perish the thought!), Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a flat out phenomenal movie from top to bottom. I am so happy right now just realizing how good, inspirational, well written, exciting and awesome The Last Jedi is. Here's the best part about this mot...

Peter Rabbit (2018)
The trailer for the new Peter Rabbit movie is so bad it defies comprehension. What in the name of God is this garbage???
